DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

There was a fair amount of scratches, pitting and rust on the GS1000's seat rail and left-side grab handle, so off they went to the chromers. Now they're back and ready to instal.

They look better than new.
Which begs the question how much does it cost?

Just curious as to the cost.. does the place also chrome aluminum? Got info for the company?

I would like to have that done to my header pipes bit I think there is to much rust. Contact info would be great.

often wonder how the Caswell home chroming kits work..havent heard of anyone here using one yet.

If I was a crow I would take those. It reminds me of the day I brought my nuts and bolts home from being cad plated. Very nice.

I had an aluminum clutch cover off my GPZ1100 rechromed at a shop here in Dayton. It had been chromed once before and half of it had peeled back off. The shop here in Dayton took it on and regretted it because it took them several tries to get it to stay. Came out nice though.

only place ive ever had good results having aluminum plated was browns in kentucky, steel is much easier to plate :D

Thanks for the compliments guys, I am pretty pleased with the results.

As to cost...... things are expensive in Europe, These 2 items were 110 Euros to plate. It's a 3 step process. First stripping the old chrome plating, then polishing to prep surface, finally re-chroming.

I had it done by this old school craftsman near the Belgium border in Vrigne-Aux-Bois, France about 1.5 hours from where I live in Luxembourg.

Wouldn't it be easier to have your clutch cover polished to a mirror finish instead of chrome plated? Aluminum can be brought to a mirror finish if done right.

I asked the Mr Torres (the proprietor) about doing my exhaust pipes too and he said he wouldn't take on the job because the shape of the GS's one piece header/muffler just makes it too unwieldy to work on with the equipment they have and the cost would be too high.

I've got new mufflers so I have to cut the 2 & 3 head pipes off the OEM mufflers and inset the into the new mufflers. So I'm not worried about the size shape of the pipes. I need to check out a shop near my work to see what the say about it.

OK, I get it. TAS, did you get the Marving mufflers like these? http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Suzuki/...ure/Marving_MARVI_Conical_Silencers_-_Chrome/

I've been thinking about going that way in order to preserve the 4-2 configuration and was wondering if anyone had tried them yet. FWIW. reports on the Marving 4-1 exhaust system has been positive.
