A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I removed the front brakes assemblies, disassembled/cleaned. I need to get at least the slider boots, prolly pads and even dust shield. I didnt try removing piston-should I? and replace its seal too? I'm wondering if I should just have a local dealer get me my parts?...TIA!
ps. just called dealer $200.00! pads-32.00per side, caliper seals & dust seals-32.00 and slider boots-10.61 x 8!! Wow!

I would recommend you pull the pistons and replace the seals to do it correctly. Where are you at on this planet? Check out Boulevard Suzuki and Parts 'N More as I don't think I paid that much for my daughter's calipers (will have to check the other computer for the exact fees).

79' 850 just added to sig..:o Fronts for now. Looks like piston seals & dust seals, slider boots(hammered!), orings in 2 slider bushings, 3 hoses w/sealing washers, pads(both sides) MC piston/cup set, resevoir oring, diaphragm & plate, a little grease & fluid.
I removed the 2 screws inside resevoir but it seems stuck? I havent tried removing the piston/cup set yet.

Why not just find a pair of good used '80-up calipers from either an 850G or 1000G and get better braking too? A purist?

Yea I guess so....anyways, no reason to "buy" what I already have...guess I'll just have to bite the bullet & step up to the plate haha. If it'll last another 35, I guess its worth it..lol

Lots of guys here on the site have used them, I have them on my GS and my FZ, and no issues, can't beat the price

.

I ordered all the front brakes rubber stuff today, cleaned all the parts up & hope to see them Friday/Sat. I used an unorthodox way of removing the M/C circlip which may have led to its demise:rolleyes: Does the kit usually come with that clip and/or that plastic washer too? and actually, theres like 2 circlips, I think 1 holds that end rubber boot on??
