A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Diff. part # for '80 GS850G??

Diff. part # for '80 GS850G??

When I go to crotchrocket.com and I do a search for the petcock for a '80 GS850G I get a $48.50 price for the petcock. I thought it would be the same petcock and price for any GS 8-valve four??

My experience has been that the valves are all the same and they mount to the tank the same but the nipples (both gas and vacuum) point in different directions per model.

For some reason crothcrocket.com doesn't list the 83 1100 for that part number, but it says the same petcock is for the 83 750 and the 81 1100. My 81 1100 and 83 1100 have the same fuel tap. If it's a matter of the vaccum line not pointing in the right direction, you can remove that part of the petcock and rotate it in any direction and re-attach.

There are some big differences in size. The early (non CV carb models) were big because there was room behind the carbs. The later CV carb tops blocked the space, so the petcock had to be much shorter to fit in the space. One of them (the L model ?) is so short it doesn't have a handle, just a screwdriver slot.

Ok

Ok

So they are ALL diff. or do say '80-'89 GS750G's -GS1100G's have the same petcock?

just had a petcock failure , gas coming out in all three postions, flooded the carbs, who knows, so i went down to the local lawn mower shop and bought a small briggs and stratton inline fuel cut off valve for 4 $, didnt think it would work because the fuel just dribbled out of it . well the leak is gone and the fuel valve works, mind you i havent gone over 5k rmp for more than 1 minute , but it works in a pinch.
