A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The petcock on my bike is leaking around the lever. I seems to be fine in the fact that it shuts off the fuel to the carbs when the engine is stopped. Is there an O-ring on the shaft of the lever? If so, can I just look for a match at the hardware store? I haven't taken it apart yet. I did take the diaphragm cover off to inspect the diaphragm and it looks good.

There is an O-ring that seals the lever on the petcock. A petcock rebuild kit includes that O-ring. I rebuilt my petcock as a precaution. There are several on-line stores that sell the kits. I bought one from my local Suzuki dealer, the oneo made by the aftermarket supplier, for about $19.

Someone can probably sell you the O-ring only. But in this application you need to use nitrile, fluorocarbon or silicone rubber because gasoline will dissolve almost anything else. And when you remove the petcock to work on it, the O-ring that seals the petcock to the underside of the gas tank will probably need to be replaced too. The hardware storee almost certainly doesn't sell O-rings made of these special types of rubber. I'd buy the kit.

Yeah, I just bought a new one for $125 CDN. I couldn't find replacement parts, so had to opt for the entire assembly.

Be sure to check with cyclerecycle.com for their rebuild kits for the petcock. It is less than the new petcock and it worked for me. I think I get that web address right. Someone else may want to correct me.

$125??

was that new OEM stuff?

I just talked some guy out of his GS650 petcock off the tank for $20 shipped
