    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

petcocks, petcocks everywhere

I need a new petcock for my '78 750. I think i would like to get a stock replacement unless there is something better out there. :-s I need some recommendations on

1 Where to buy a stock one
and
2 what would be a better alternative?

A word of advice. When it comes to petcocks, I stay away from used ones and those cheap repair kits you see out there. You'll just end up replacing a used one sooner than later. Just get a new one from Suzuki. It will last many years. There are many sources for these. Bikebandit.com, Mr.cycles.com, or others like this one:

It doesn't matter. The part number show is a Suzuki replacement part number for both of the petcocks. The original part number is NLA, so this is what you get from them. It fits and works like the new one. Sometimes Suzuki changes the original part numbers just for their system, and sometimes the replacement parts are changed slightly(ie: some emblems you get are gold instead of the original silver).
 
I got the "custom chrome" petcock and Pingel adaptor from Z1 it works great and removes that stupid vacuum part of it. The only issue is it sticks a bit lower so i had to re-route the fuel line. It looks like the Pingel petcock will work better for that.

I got the Pingel too and I like the fact that I can positively shut off the fuel flow. I try to remember to turn it off coming in the neighborhood and a mile later when I pull in the driveway the carbs are pretty dry. I did have to do some filing of the hole to get it to fit and total cost was about $90 after it was all said and done.
 
OOps, same petcock, oh well, OEM is always better, IN my own opinion.
