If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I searched and saw that people have asked for photos of Vetter mounts but didn't find any responses with actual photos of the mounts.

Can someone with a Vetter mount for an 850G post a photo of the area where the mount attaches to the frame down tubes?

Thanks,
Chris

I have one that's not mounted. I can get pix of that and hold it up to the bike.
Exactly what are you looking for?
I will shoot to please.

I'm looking to see what type of mounting Vetter used between the fairing mount and bike frame.

I have a Quicksilver fairing to mount on my bike. I have a mount that was intended for a different bike with a single downtube. Since it is almost impossible to find specific mounts for these fairings I will have to modify what I have to work for my bike. I would like to match or at least take into consideration what Vetter felt was the best mounting approach to take.:-)

Any photos you could take would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

ETA: I realize you guys probably do not have Quicksilver fairings but I would expect that the interface Vetter used for the GS850 was probably the same regardless of fairing and then he just changed the upper fairing to mount interface to work with the particular fairing. At least that is what I think.

Pictures of Vetter Windjammer IV circa early 80s.

This was on the 80 GS850G I had. THen it was in basement for 15 years. Sold to a fellow GSer last year.

Here is one of the pics of the mounting. CAn see the two angled parts that mate up to the frame downtubes, and can see the U-bolts and other parts in the box that are what bolt/clamp around the frame downtubes.

Steve has the one off the bike, bet if you ask him you can get all the measurements you need to convert yours from single to two tube.

Mine was attached on the flasher mount, and hose clip to fasten it on the lower frame section.
