A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Rich, the view from where you sat on your "T" in this week's pic is a familiar one. Not on my 850 though, but the DL1000. Two days after I bought it, we rode the '02 V-Strom with full luggage up and over the Sandia's from PLacitas to the Crest road. My wife had no idea how stressed I was about making it through that ride. I'm glad too, because she enjoyed it LOL. It's a beautiful area if you can take your eyes off the road for a second to see it, that is. The nice thing about riding two up on that bike was that I could actually get both feet on the ground when we stopped, haha.

I’ve found myself on roads like that too often on the GS. With the Shinko 705s, traction is fine, and that bike is low enough that I can flat foot. But it’s also so low that on that particular ride I did put a very large dent in my exhaust h-pipe. It ain’t no skid plate. I wouldn’t take a passenger on a trail like that. My wife rides with me very infrequently.
My Tiger, which is better built to handle these trails, is so tall, that I worry about falling over and getting in situation where I can’t recover by myself.

Yup! I lowered my KLR to get my feet down. Taking away the ground clearance kinda defeats the whole purpose, lol. At least the KLR was manageable to lift. The DL, not so much...

You're a better rider than I am to handle those roads. It took owning four ADV bikes for me to realize I much prefer pavement, and I'm ok with that haha.

Not sure about "better rider". I ride alone 99% of the time. I have no-one to compare myself to. I'm not that brave, either. I like to ride off-road more than on. But the trail in my pic was a mistake. It was much steeper than the pic shows. I would have turned around if I thought I could do it safely. I didn't. I knew where it would end up, could see it on the map. But it soon turned into an absolute goat-path with very big rocks and ruts. I will not re-visit that trail.
