A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

OK...feeling better. A good night's sleep and all that...:D
Thank you all for the votes. One from the file I didn't think had a chance. LOL.

And thank several of you for giving me the theme idea....
This explains the theme, which is spelled out below...
Wait, who'd be in your way to use that thing. Ring ring, lookout here I come. Or, ring ring, you just got smoked! Either way, it's a fun thing.

...that bell would be funny on a normal road going bike, but its even funnier on a 9 second drag bike!.

I wondered if he though that would then make the bike street legal...

Thing is, the bell had purpose, and was very useful.
At most of the drag strips I've raced, pedestrians wonder everywhere in the pits, constantly stepping out in front of you.
Since the dragbike needed to be towed around with a scooter, and the scooter had a horn, meep, meep, no problem.

But at Byron Dragway, I could coast from our pit, downhill to the staging lanes, and it didn't have a horn. So.....
Ching, ching......ching, ching....as I rolled down the hill....worked great.:D (Did have one on the street bike too, but that is a different story)

The theme: Something that appears useless, silly, or fake, but actually has a serious purpose. Or the opposite, something that appears useful, and is totally not.
Special no copy rule: It cannot be a part from, or on, a motorbike. :p

Any questions?

Again sorry for the delay...have fun, be safe.

..
Thanks Bob.
Will have to ponder that.
So: bike and something that is useless, silly, or fake but has serious purpose.

This will be interesting.

Albuquerque spent millions of taxpayers' dollars on a flyover ramp to alleviate rush hour traffic. It didnt work, making it useless. A pic of a flyover or bridge dosen't necessarily convey that though.

I'll have to find something and let the pic speak for itself, without an explanation.

How about a useless fireplace.
Strictly cosmetic, not even plumbed-in for a natural gas insert.
80 years ago when the house was built i guess it was fashionable.

My house had one of those when we moved in. Had a crappy electric heater in it, that "looked" like a fire, lol... It had to go. Wish I still had the picture of the CRAZY bright red DEEP shag carpet from the 70's that was under it, lol...

I saw those in a park in San Diego.
I should say I didnt see them the first three times was there, then the 4th time I was there... Oh, Hey ! !

If you look closely you can see the fake bird poop too.

They spared no expense.

I will let you see if you can spot the "fake" in this photo. If it were real it would be really usefull (to some people anyway!)

Looks like you parked in front of the entrance to the bat cave.

That section of wall just doesn't fit.

Gave up on finding any pic in my archive that might be suitable.

Then Am riding around, looking around, thinking "appears useless, but has purpose. Appears usefull but is not...... useless...... hum,... useless....."

Saw the old coal tipple, hey, that use to have a purpose but is not apparent what it is useful for anymore. Is an odd looking 5 story concrete structure. But Could not find any place to pose an interesting picture.

So am riding around town some more, thinking "useless...... hum, useless ..... "

Then going thru a big open public area,

"Hey! Useless!, Serves any real purpose? Naw! Useless!"

Well, Okay, I understand is considered to be art.

In back corner of a park near the river, actaully an island in the river.
Took quick picture. Thought of trying to find more interesting place to pose bike, but ground was real soft from river being so high, and I though I should get out of there.

The seemingly useless item is the formerly empty diaper box I've been throwing used, removed, broken, or otherwise defunct GS parts in for 15 years (my boys are now 18 and 14). You never know what you're gonna need to re-purpose, someday. Yesterday, driving down the road, my right mirror glass goes flying. I watched it tumble to the road in my left mirror. I did a quick u-turn and stopped to pick it up, the rubber ring and glass seemed to be intact, amazingly. That is, until I watched a pick-up run over and shattered the glass.. I was happy to find one right mirror, unbroken, from a previously mounted pair, in the diaper box. Now I'm sporting one round chrome left, and one square black right mirror until my replacement pair come from ebay. Whatever.:black_eyed:
