Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Newb here who has a 82' GS850. My question is that the 1st and 2nd spark plug there is a bolt on the engine and in the crevice there are tiny little bubbles of oil coming out. Only a 10 min ride will look like the pics I have for you. Only happens when riding. Is the bike all done???????

Oil feeds up to the cams via clearance around the stud. That's the why there is a copper washer on the nut. You might want to retorque the head and check the condition of the washer on that stud.

You say it only happens when riding, so I guess that means that you cannot actually see the oil bubbling out when the bike is sitting in the driveway idling. If this is the case I would recheck everything, clean the area with degreaser, use the foot powder technique and make absolutely sure the oil is coming from these pin holes. If it only comes out when riding it is obviously the higher oil pressure that is causing it to seep out. Make sure it is not coming past the cylinder head studs and nuts. Ride the bike only a few hundred meters if that is what it takes to get the oil to bubble out.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Don

It's not coming from the bolt itself or the washer. It is coming from that crevice where if I do throttle I can see a tiny pin hole bubble with little oil, enough to drip to the fins. However from the second plug, I do not know where it is coming from, but it has just happened probably 2 weeks ago, that when I look down, I can see oil very slowly drip from my 2nd plug area on the case, down to the fins. Sorry bout the newb explanation. It is just bothersome to even ride because like I said a 10 min ride will have the oil slowly drip to the fins and then to the suzuki emblem and some on my pants and more so if I ride longer. Thanks again for suggestions and help.
John.

John, that first pic shows oil dis-colouration on the inward fins just adjacent to the inlet cam cover and the breather assy cover in the middle of the engine. It looks to me as if oil is seeping from either of those gaskets and running down to the spark plug areas. I doubt that oil will be seeping through bubbles on the head surface. I dont believe that the galleys that feed the cams with oil come anywhere near the spark plugs.

The third and fourth pic is where the oil is coming from. The third pic is the 2nd plug. If you picture the crevice on the inside of the engine and not from the gasket itself, in the small corner of that crevice, it actually is a tiny pin hole that somehow leaks. The fourth picI know for certain that the crevice inward the plug is actually bubbling because I have seen it when I rev the engine. The bottom of the bolt where the crevice is on the engine is where oil seeps out by a tiny little pinhole bubble. If this helps.

Maybe it appears to be bubbling from the vibration and heat. Can't see how the oil can get up here unless it's a valve cover leak.
