A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I know they might be unobtanion. Would like to find some .050 ring sets an .050 for my bike.
Thanks,

Mgnafique

yah see rings often on ebay of various oversize never saw a full set
pistons are almost unseen I think these bikes were beaten to death on tracks and the parts sources for hop ups were eaten up

Thanks Cipher, yes it is hard to find parts for. I just got it restored and fired and then an oil leak at the base of the head so now am replacing the head gasket and base gaskets. I think I will look for new rings until I get a set and then just re-ring the pistons while I have it apart.

Best regards: Magnafique

check the rings for wear against the manual specs I had a 70 000 km hard driven motor form this bike apart and the bires still had cross hatch and no visible wear

Will do when I get it apart. The bike has a shade over 27000 miles on it and was raced at one time but has not used any oil since I have had it. Bought it in 2002.

That being the case dont break it down the expense of gaskets is not worth it

Check the valves makes sure they are in spec then check the compression
Im sure your engine s fine

Well, I got a blown Head gasket causing an oil leak so I have to change that, and many have suggested that I change the base gasket and 0 rings while I have it apart. So thats what I am gonna do. Last time I checked the compression it was 135 across all four. Book calls for 142-199 psi

did you try retorquing the head as per the manual?
did the valves
a minor oil leak is hardly worth a teardown
also a bike can have gummed up rings from sitting
best to check valves and drive the **** outta it for many a mile then reassess
