    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi there.
Im from South Africa. :-D
I ride a GS1000, and Im currently rebuilding it. Having a hard time finding parts,so it looks like I have to compromise. Im planning on boring it out, but cant find oversize pistons. :cry: So Ive asked around and Ive heard that Kawasaki Gpz 1100 piston will work. Any comments? :?

I know nothing about kawasaki pistons fitting the GS but..........

1st oversized pistons for your bike are still listed as being available on bikebandit.com. Before you give up all together try calling here...http://www.z1enterprises.com/

If its out there, they'll find it.
 
Cut out the mucking around, go for the next size up Wiseco kit... you'll get everything: correct head gasket, gudgeon pin circlips, piston rings, etc. as well as the pistons.

By all means do your shopping around, but I'm sure you'll find that the Wiseco kits will save you smackeroos compared to the OE Suzuki gear.
 
Its about 650 dollars for the wiseco kit.:? And about 600 just for OEM pistons. Its alot of money here. :cry: You can buy a complete bike for that price. :shock:
 
Yep, and when I bought some OEM piston ring sets for my GS1000, it came to over AU$70 PER SET. :shock: So multiply that by four, add all the gaskets (head, base, exhaust, etc.), gudgeon-pin clips, and you'll be financially crippled.

Wiseco, or APE, or just about any other piston kit comes with all the essential parts as well as the pistons. Go for it. ;)

If you were to try and use GPZ pistons, you would have to remachine the tops. You would also have to use 83-84 models as they have the 18mm wrist pins like the Suzuki.
