If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Playing around with a Basic paint scheme

You mean like this? I'm gonna be off the bike for a little bit with a foot injury. So i've started sanding a spare mud guard i have to prepare it for some paint, i'm undecided on what colour to paint it now!

I missed this earlier... foot injury? Did you try to adjust your chain with a toe this time? :p

Aaaah I see... well they say no pain no gain.

But having said that, I hurt my thumb but my alternator rotor's still on the crankshaft, so how does that work?

Well i got bored so i layed some paint onto the spare mudguard yesterday, Just a cheap red spray can i had in the garage and i gotta admit the red looks good, i dont know if i would bother with doing the white line down the centre of the front mudguard? But i think it will look out of place if i dont?

I was going to buy some good quality paint in spray cans but it will probably be cheaper for me to buy the paint in a tin and use my compressor to spray it.

I dont know why but i think the solid red makes the bike look abit younger than it actually is, even if i have only sprayed the front mudguard.

i only used aussie export paint on the mudguard, its not good enough to use on the bike permanently i just wanted to see what it looked like, i'll sand it off. i've never sprayed with the compressor before so it will be good to get some practice in.

Spray the entire thing white first, then mask off what you want to keep white and spray the red. Red covers the white easier than white covering red.
By the way I painted the tank on my XS11 over the holiday the same colors!

Nice job!

That's the technique I figured I'd have to use when I get around to doing mine which I plan on a deep blue with a pearl white stripe or two. Undecided on the stripe style at the moment.

Woodsy, shoulda left it on long enough to show us a pic of it sitting there to see how it looks...

Can't say I'm a fan of that powder blue, but that's just me. Personally, I'd prefer something with red on a motorcycle. But even different shade of blue would be nice. Just not that powder blue. Yuck. (sorry)

SCORE! The Local Hardware store has a stash of automotive paint, its been there a while as there is dust on the can. $13.50 for a 400g can.

I've got a big tin of it, wasnt sure how it would go on the plastics

Woodsy, So......... What color did you choose?
I'll admit I also like the red scheme the best.
What software did you use to do your mock ups?
I want to fiddle with color schemes for my 81-850G. Would like to keep it looking stock but I have not been able to locate the pinstripe decals and doubt I can afford to have someone paint them for me..... This thread has given me some good ideas.

I have gone with a white base coat, i am still undecided with what colour to do either side of the white stripes. A gloss black i think would look good but makes the bike harder to see at night.

I use Arcsoft Photostudio to edit my photos, prefer it to photoshop, if you cant find it let me know...

Thanks,
I've tried to do mock-ups in "paint" and it is a pain in the arse! Only software I have. I will look up The Arc Soft Photostudio.
Good luck with the paint job!
Kurt

I thought , being a cockroach , you'd have gone for the blue old mate (I must have been a bit to obscure for you when I suggested it earlier) .

That red be cane toad colourin' .

Cheers , Simon . :)

lol, didnt even think of that.. Depends on my mood when i walk into buy the paint lol it could come out bright orange with a white stripe.... lol

There is a reason i am not a good panel beater, i have no patience for letting things dry.. give me an engine to work on and i'm happy.

Looking at it now though with just the seat and tank on it... i can see a cafe racer hiding under its skin....
