I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a GS550 with a problem. When I start the engine fuel leeks out of one of the carburetors. The other three have no problem. Does anyone know the answer to this problem? It keeps leeking even if i drive

Please help

Erik

The needle and seat for that carb's float isn't sealing, allowing gas to flow continuously. Time to take it apart and clean it well.... Actually, I suspect they could ALL use cleaning.

It leeks from under the carb. There is a pin with a hole under the carb. A overflow or something. That is where i comes out.

Do i have to clean the carbs?

Sorry my english is not so good.

When i bought the bike there was no problem, so could the carbs be dirty of something?

drain

It sounds like the float bowl drain screw is loose or ?????. Compare parts with the other 3 and see if something's different. If that's the problem, it's not much of a problem at all. :P

I have an '81 GS550L and it did the same thing. It turned out to be the o-rings on the black plastic T-fitting between the carbs. They had deteriorated so bad that they no longer sealed the fitting to the carb. I replaced them and haven't had a problem since.

Which carb is leaking?? If it is # 2 carb Check the vacuum hose to fuel valve for any signs of fuel. Fuel valve may be ruptured. Disconnect/Plug the vacuum hose turn the fuel valve to prime an try running the engine to see if it still leaks. Also when you get it fixed CHANGE the oil

Second carb

Second carb

When you stand at the back of the bike it is the second carb from the left.

Could you please explain it some more? I don't really understand what i have to do

Thanks

Does your bike have the drain hoses attached to each carb?

Yes. My bike has a small hose attached to the bottom of each carb to carry away the fuel overflow from the carbs.

If your bike is supposed to and doesn't, we may all be talking the same thing - the float valve allowing fuel to overflow.

I just fixed this problem on my GS550E.

Erik,

Are you dutch? Perhaps it could be better explained in your language. Technical terms are quite difficult to translate into a foreign language. I know what I'm talking about..... Send me an email, and we'll sort it out!

:D
Quick and easy try. Give the offending carb a quick rap with the wooden handle of your hammer. This will often release the offending bit of dirt and solve the problem. Do not use the hammer head as you could crack the float chamber.
