A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The sound is louder in person then my camera, it does have that gear wine sound to me like someone puts gear timing set in a Chevy, in the morning I will pull all the clutch guts out and oil pump gear and run for few seconds see if it's still there. Look to see if I have means to.pull fly wheel if not I.will just remove the connecting gear from big gear to.starter.

pulling the idler would be a step but if something is rubbing behind the SC then the sound may still be there.
just saying...
just like a noisy gear drive.
my kaw has a similar sound from the straight cut gears.
damn that sound was LOUD!

maybe tensioner is not set right or came loose.

i checked that when i pulled the one cam out to look down at the guide. had the same thought maybe i did somethin wrong. when i put it back in followed the service manual to a t.

your right need to do this right i will pull it all.

Alright first update removed all the clutch internals and oil pump gear put cover on and no change still there.....strike 1

I pulled stator cover off and I noticed theres some glue or something in the fly wheel and you can kinda move it slightly loose, o and I don't have a puller for that any have a link for decent one or can it purchased at a auto parts store?

pull the idler like you mentioned..put the cover on and give it a try.

no auto parts store.
dealership or mail order only.
it's the large thread puller...not sure on the size.

waiting for a buddy to show up to help me push start it.

Is it normal to want to just stop all this and push the gs off a dock into the ocean?

you know what's funny my neighbor has cb900f and just seen him drive away while iam push starting mine,

O and removing idle gear no difference strike 2

tried to call JP and see if a twisted crank will whine like that..
got his machine...maybe i'll try again tomorrow.

So far we know it's not the clutch area, iam pretty sure it's not the starter or gears. So what's left crank and valve Train? Still could stator maybe? Any test I can do with cam Chain? Maybe slightly turn nob while running to if changes Tone?

hey blowerbike if i end up pulling the head a cyclinder to find the problem i want some of those ape studs and head nuts if u still have some left

So you pulled the valve cover? You can run a while without it. Is the chain properly tensioned?
