    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Facts; 82 1100glz STOCK, except for single KN filter in air box.
Rus very good. Starts instantly, Idles smooth, (500 rpm with no fault) Runs smooth through all rpm ranges. Very good low end pull, carbs, rebuilt and sync. All stock jets. 48+- mpg. Compression, valve adjust, spark, advance, fuel flow, etc all good
Problem; Does not run like a dog on fire when you yank open the throttle. Runs best when ambient temp is cool, 40' to 60' and before engine gets warm. Is NOT cold blooded. (symptoms point to rich?) I have another 82' 1100glz with 1000cc cylinders on it, 4 into 1 V&H and stock air box. IT rips when you yank the throttle.
Question; what is the PROPER procedure for a spark plug read?? I am sure many techs have a little twist on it.

thanks. The photos of the plugs are great. I have a pretty good handle on that. But getting back to my post. Should i be accelerating hard, shutting down, then reading the plugs to see condition. (since the bike dosen't accelerate as fast as I think it should) or should i do a steady cruise at 4,000 then do the plug read.

Throtle opening is the key,0-1/4 idle mix,1/4-3/4 needle jet ,3/4 to full main jet, overlap with all.
500 rpm is way to low for idle 1000-1200.
Rev's do not come in to plug reading's,throtle position.
You may have to mark your throtle grip so you know what you are doing.
Run at any seting you chose first, keep the speed constant for at least a mile ,hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch untill you stop .
Pull the plug.
