A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

If you hook up pods, then where does the breather tube that originally went fron engine to air filter go? Woulf i just lose ot totally?

I put a little automobile breather filter on mine and vent it to the atmosphere. It still needs to breathe.

On my bike's with pods, I simply run the breather down with the battery overflow tube to the rear of the engine exiting in front of the swing-arm.
It works like a draft tube and never leaves any oil drops.

so you dont have a filter on it?
The main thing is to let it breathe. If you don't mind providing the opportunity for bugs to crawl up the tube into your engine, then no, you do not need a filter. Mine is there to prevent stuff from entering the engine.
Dealer's choice.

i learn something new everyday

emgo filters are trash and will not work on GS vacuum carbs...period.
GS vacuum carbs CAN NOT be tuned properly without a st. 3 jet kit and good quality filters.
if a person is not willing to buy the above mentioned parts then leave the air box on your bike.

You can use one of the many tiny cone filters they sell at your local auto parts stores.

Hi, just to add my experiecne with pod filters. Yes you should put a pipe with a filter onto the stub coming out of the rocker cover, or even just have it go into a soft drinks(I think you guys call them soda)can. As for the jetting depending on how much you are willing to mess about-and your closeness to a dyno, go with say 135 main jets to start with then work down in steps of 2 until you get the plugs a nice light tan colour(I did this with my GS1000/GSX1100 hybrid, started with 145's and finished up with 117.5).This is not as expensive as it sounds if you make the arrangement with your supplier that you can return the jets in "saleable condition"ie. unmarked-the easy way to do this is get a screwdriver that is a slightly loose fit and dip it into the solution for sticking patches to bicycle tubes this gives a rubber like coating to the screwdriver and won't mark or damage the soft brass of the jet.Hope you can make sense of this rambling and GOOD LUCK-Johnny
