DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pod Filters from crc2online??

They should work fine, you may have to adjust jetting

Those filters looks alot like EMGO's. Be aware that if so, they do not flow anything like your K&N. My guess is they need jetting much closer to stock.
But hell, I have a set like that, and they do work ok.

Set like that came on my Honda when I bought it. Cant say about performance, but the construction seems kinda cheap. The chrome end cap is glued on to the filter medium, which isnt that thick. I guess you get what you pay for.

Im pretty certain CRC sells the Emgo pods. I've heard it said before that they do not flow as much as K&N's, however, I have jetted and tuned bikes with them and they have zero restriction. Once you have jetted for the Emgo's, you can remove the pods and it will not make a bit of difference in how the engine runs. (gonna get debris in the intakes though) :-) Basically, theyre a leaf filter and thats about it.

So what's actually wrong with your K&N's?
If cleaned/maintained correctly, they'll last a lifetime.

OK. I'll clean the K&N's I have and see how they work. The reason I was looking to change them is that they are rusty, and don't look like they'd pass a whole lot of air.

Thanks, guys.

Mark, get this kit from an autoparts store or right from K&N:
Recharger Filter Care Service Kit
Be sure to follow the directions carefully.

Use some extra fine steel wool and chrome polish to remove the rust on the chrome and the clamps. If you do it right when you are done your old ugly dirty but faithful K&N filters should look very close to this:

:D

Hope it works out well for you!

I was reading a thread on the ZRX board where it was discussed that the K&N's actually allow quite a bit of dust to pass through and that the foam Uni's are much better filters (but harder to jet and uglier).

Anyone else know about this?

I would imagine nothing beats a foam filter. However I would have to say to the myth of K&N's passing a lot of dust... Most likely abused or not properly oiled K&N filters are what they are talking about. A non-damaged, properly cleaned and oiled POD of any kind should block more than enough dust.

As with anything application is the biggest part. Same is true for guys that go around saying that synthetic oil ruined their engine when they put it in from mile 1. Or that Marvel Mystery Oil made their motorcycle clutch slip. Education is much more than half the battle man
