A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

this is very strange and only started happening in the past week or so.

its a 1987 gs 450l when its cold the bike runs perfect but once it warms up the idle will drop down to the point of killing the bike and it pops and farts like crazy at lower rpm. when i stop at a light i have to hold the throttle open or else i stall.

any ideas? i think the carbs need to be synchronized.

also before i had the problem of the idle going up when warm but that has gone away by it self.

Not gone away it has transmuted perhaps.
Have you cleaned the carburetors?

Sounds like you are running rich, now. Problems like a hanging idle, just don't go away. Where do you have the mixture screws set at?

GS850 idle speed increase

GS850 idle speed increase

My 1983 GS850 idle goes up to about 2500RPM once its good and warm. Its not an up-down alternating idle surge. Its a steady gradual increase until its out of hand. Any ideas?

Hi,

So that no one gets confused as to who is offering help to whom, you should start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

It sounds like you have leaks in the air intake system. Tell you what, just CLICK HERE and do everything it says on the maintenance lists. That should get your bike running properly. Take no shortcuts or you will become frustrated with lots of pesky little problems. It's just the "mega-welcome" that everybody gets. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Hi Mr. frozenfish66,

I also encourage you to perform the proper initial maintenance on your motorcycle; clean carbs, new intake boots and O-rings, properly maintained air box and air filter, everything on the "mega-welcome" maintenance lists. It all needs to be done and your bike will love you for it. Let's get started. :)

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.
