If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Possible to fit a gs850 crankshaft in a 77-79 gs750?

Hi!
I am asking if it is possible to fit a GS850 crankshaft into
a 77-79 GS750 crankcase.
The 850 crankshaft has the same stroke as the 750(56,4mm)
so apart from a little higher primary gearing and also
having helical cut gears (vs750straight cut) the 850 crankshaft seems to
fit but I am not sure.
I already have a GS850 crankshaft in very good shape and
I also have the complete 850 clutch to match the 850crankshaft
helical gears.

I feel if this is possible,
as beeing helical gears vs straight cut
it would be a little more silent.

Anyone who knows?

In advance,
Thank you.

Have not seen that question asked before.

Since you already have the parts, it might be worth a try.

However, will it really be any quieter with the helical gears?
Would it be enough of a difference to justify all the work (assuming there is no other incentive)?

.

It will not fit. The primary gear and the main bearing that lives next to it are transposed on the two models.

The question was asked if it was possible
to do it if and when the box was opened
for other reasons.

As said,If the bearings are different I can see
that it will not fit.
Anyway,
Thanks.
