A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

wow, that's very nice, "rops84". i can tell it's a gs. but what else is it??

gdje u hrvatskoj?

no vmax in it... just a little bit of cagiva roadster '97 (seat, tank and those bars under the back of the seat).
but it does remind of vmax, doesnt it? :D
it lowered the seating position a bit.
also rear fender is pulled in a bit and the airbox is form gs 650.

this was taken in fall last year in zagreb(bike is in zagreb during most of the year and in summer is in dubrovnik and coast mostly), since then i changed the wheel bearings and gearbox bearings, brake pads and will try to get my hands on some steel braided brake lines, nice little crome sissy bar and oil pressure gauge to mount on the right side of the engine head.
anyone has any expirience with these oil gauges? will it restrict the flow or smthing?

oil pressure gauges are a simple bolt-on, no issues... except that i think all the available gauges are rated for a bigger pressure than what you find in the GS so i'm not sure you can get very accurate readings (i.e. the reading would be at the very bottom of the scale). at least this is how it was a couple of years ago when I looked into it.

i'm looking forward to an updated picture of the bike with Dubrovnik in the background :-\\\

Working on the rear-sets now, new brake lines, custom gauges, and front suspension.

Will be much cleaner by next week in time for a meet.

The latest set of mods have been installed. (Painted Upper triple tree and handle bar clamps, new speedo & tach, and headlight visor)

The turn signal wiring through me for a loop, but I ordered a Diode Kit from Amazon and will be installing it soon.

xtribe, any L model front master cylinder will fit level on those handlebars and even look like it belongs there. ;)

Work is now slowing down on my 'Yoshi' GS1000... main thing I want to do next is fit a TR750 style tail piece with a single-seat unit.

That is a great looking bike the way she sits.

If you go that direction I would recommend you hang on to the parts that are on her now, because what you are changing her to will not be as appealing to the broadest range of people.

Thanks Gregory, and thanks for the good advice too. Yes, all the standard parts get stored on the shelf, and for the most part I have avoided modifications that can't be reversed by someone in the future.

That said, the bike was in such a wretched state when I got it, that anything I've done has been a step in the right direction! Here's where it all began:

I hope the PO paid you to take it

Actually no... I exchanged it for a carton of beer. I think he got the better end of the deal!
(By the way, the PO is 'Shedman' here on GSR.)

And now <drumroll> for my next project, I'm going to rebuild a Katana starting with a footpeg...

The unit I am using is a Brembo (more function & better control), and I was also going for a look of classic and new, otherwise I would have kept the original MC.

This is still a work in progress. I have a new seat/taillight and a welder friend....The new rear end is coming soon! It's running like a top!
