A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So when you remove stock exhaust from a GS650, the end that inserts to the motor measures 1.64 inches, the pipe I bought measures 1.5.

Am I missing something, I bought them expecting a bit of a gamble as they were old and pitted from some rust, but only $100. As far as lining up is concerned, they appear to wrap around the engine as you would expect them to. Is it possible to get flanges that will fit these pipes to my bike, or just replace the exhaust gaskets, and by the way, where the hell are the exhaust gaskets? :)

..., and by the way, where the hell are the exhaust gaskets? :)
I'll bet they are somewhat "north" of Hell.

Exhaust gaskets will squish out when they get compressed, which wedges them into place. With all the carbon there, it is hard to see them.
Use a pick or a slightly-bent screwdriver, you will find them easily enough.

Hi,

where the h... are the exhaust gaskets?

Yes, when you remove the exhaust they usually stay stuck inside the exhaust ports on the head. You'll probably have to pry them out with a flat blade screwdriver or something.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Okay, great! So then the slightly off pipe size should be fine so long as I get new gaskets and press the slightly smaller tubes into them? I bolted the headers down just for the hell of it and they fit well, other than I'll have to remove my center stand. They're not precisely in there like the stock ones but it sounds like it should be okay...

Thanks, Nate

Ps, I'll have to take the time to show photos of my bike eventually since you've all been so generous with the advice.
