    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Powder coating calipers?

Has anyone here powder coated their calipers? How did it work? I will be tearing in to my forks soon, new seals, tires, SS brake lines, and I thought what the heck I may as well powder coat the calipers while I am at it. I had it done to my rear rack that matches the color of the gray insert on my tank and I thought doing the calipers the same color would be cool, but I don't want to screw them up. Any ideas?
 
haven't done it (yet) but when i researched the topic, i thought that was the right way to go (you can also paint them (special paint) or polish them)
i've seen them powder coated and they look primo
 
Hi bubba,
age and miles have caught up with my Kat and its time to put it right. Have sorted the 13L, clear for the wheels,forks,clip-ons and side covers. Aluminium finish for the engine cases looks like going with POR15. Having compared the dedicated caliper paints and their properties against powdercoating I will be having the calipers, side and centre stand, chain guard and airbox side plates done in satin black powdercoat. Tough finish with a close to original look and the bonus is its almost the same cost as paint. Will let you know how it turns out and post photos when its all done, cheers.

I know I will have to strip the calipers bare. I understand they are baked at 400 F. My main concern was that it wouldn't some how warp or damage the body of the caliper.
 
It should be fine.....people do it ALL the time to car calipers...and I've done it to many sets of lightweight wheels which must certainly be less stable or more prone to any possiblity of warpage than a caliper..
