DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I wanted to make some offset sprockets. Since I was quoted nearly 200 for a sprocket, I have a machine shop beside my house . Also a welder, ect. I wanted to buy a few feet of internally splined material to use to make up some offset sprockets, Any ideas Guys? Thank-you Mike

Never seen or heard of internally splined material being available - doesn't mean it's not though..

The factory would have broached sprocket blanks prior to cutting teeth. It's actually not too difficult to convert an old gearbox shaft to a broach yourself.

What got me going o nthis is our local bike shop wanted $200. for a front 15 tooth offset sprocket. I as a canadian get jammed all the time buying from the states our lousy dollar and then shipping it adds up. Example bought a JD square tube bender for 500 dollars with a set of diers, At my door it cost me $1500 dollars no ****!! UPS suck any how Lectro nthrottle cable 100 dollars to my door, and so on to give u guys an idea, Thanx Mike

No idea about where to get splined shaft blank, sorry. I guess you will have hard time finding it.

Just for curiosity, how much offset you need? If it is any "normal" offset like 10-15mm I guess it's easier and cheaper just buy one. One good source is XAM Japan: http://xam-japan.co.jp/en/ Their website isn't very useful but they have been very helpful when contacted by email.

Of course if you need something more special like sprocket for outrigger support then custom made part is probably only choice.

For starters I understand your pain! I will not use a vendor if they will not ship via USPS, all other shipping companies **** you up the arse with brokerage and fees. But of lately USPS prices have gone up some but still way less than the others.

With the CdN dollar so low now it makes no sense buying products from the states anyways!

Yeah at times Been reamed by some Americans!! I sent a Guy $5000. dollars american 3 MONTHS later still nothing. What a Dick and he runs a Bike Shop in South Carolina, Anyhow finally got my stuff and it was all Junk, Weasel for sure. Funny thing is someday Ill run into him at some drags. Id like to shake his hand . Anyhow still searching for some material, may just edm it but...expensive !!

make one from a regular sprocket...
in the past i watched a well known chassis builder making offset sprockets from PBI flat sprockets.
machine the center/add tube/fit center that you removed/true/weld...
add nose if necessary/required.

Thanx Blower Bike .! I have a pile of sprockets to work on .!!
