A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pick up an electric drill and titanium bits. Make sure you spray PB blaster in the struck screws, helps the drill bit penetrate the screw. And use the tiniest drill bit and center it.

I wish you the best of luck. If it gets ruined I will send you the needed parts from this carburetor set I have.

I've already got the drill and the bits and PB Blaster has been on these things for days and days. I did run out to Sears and get a 1/64 drill bit and it worked pretty well. However, the backout/extractor/ez-out didn't work out on either screw. On one the hole in the screw just kept stripping and on the other the backout bit snapped flush to the screw! That's it. I'm putting the carbs back on as is and running lean at idle for the rest of the year!

Guess it's time to search for a new set of carbs for this winter. How annoying! Weeks of wasted time and I'll still be running lean. :-s

unless of course you want me to ship you two carbs with jet needle screws? I will still have two extra carbs minus the jet screws I replaced. However my carburetor is repaired with the spare Lee sent me. And .... once you get a mech to back those screws out eventually ... you will also have two spare carbs minus needles.

PM me if your interested. I can send them to you tmw if you want them ($20.00 + whatever shipping comes to?)

Well, the screws are stuck and in to stay. Lost a backout bit to one and the other just kept stripping out even with the backout bit getting a full bite. At this point I believe that there has been some sort of galvanic action that has essentially melded the screws to the carbs.

So, I'll be running with two lean barrels unless I can find another set of carbs that is better AND tune-able.

Don't forget to post when they arrive. Also, in my personal opinion, Lee did a fine job with those Carbs, they should put your bike on the road in no time.

Absolutely. As soon as they arrive I'll be back in the garage. Lee has given me a rundown on the carbs as well. Based on the reviews from you and Lee and the pics you sent it seems that they may be in even better overall shape than the ones I have been desperately trying to save. Can't wait! \\:D/

PS: The purple dino icon is new, right? I'm almost certain that I would've noticed that if it was there before.

Yes, its new :-D Its actually supposed to be an animation but cant get it to work. The animation is hilarious.

Pilot Screws - We don't need no stinkin' pilot screws!!!

Pilot Screws - We don't need no stinkin' pilot screws!!!

Well, at least not the two that are stuck in the, now, extra set of carbs.

Bike is running again but now it runs better!

1000 Thanks to Schweisshund and LeeGS550E who apparently conspired to make available for sale another set of carbs that are in very fine condition. LeeGS550E sold these to Schweisshund who needed two of the pilot screws. Schweisshund then sold them to me because I had to "non-stuck" pilot screws and I need a set of carbs that didn't have two screws WELDED into them!!!! (Hey bub, would ya like a house to go with that door knob?).

Carbs arrived yesterday and I spent last night and this morning tweaking the new carbs and installing them along with the new boots and o-rings that I bought from LeeSG550E a few weeks earlier.

Result: Smooth running and none of the high idling after warm up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
\\:D/
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
:-D
Finally!!!!! =D>

Perhaps a picture of the bike in the DC area ?? Just a suggestion - The White House Pillars at the National Botanical Gardens - same pillars that stood when Lincoln was sworn in as President. I think some awesome pictures of your bike on the road would really be good closure for this thread - unless of course your going to custom paint your bike :-D

Pics will be forthcoming, but first I've got a bit more to do before I can actually ride beyond my neighborhood.

There's the minor issues of Maryland State Inspection. Two problems: Finding an inspection shop and getting the bike to the shop.

The local shop won't schedule an inspection. Turns out that they just want you to call every morning about 10 am to check with them to see if they can "fit it in today". So far, every day, the answer is "Not today". There's a gas station next door to the shop that does inspections, but their inspector is on vacation until next Tuesday. These are the only two inspection shops that I've found within 5 miles of my place and I don't want to go farther because...

Issue number two is that my temporary inspection tag is expired. MD has changed their "policy" on getting a renewal/extension/second tag - they won't do it. Period. Unless you're GOD and then they would still require a note from you doctor, a vial of Jesus blood and at least three Angels that would vouch for why you deserve a second inspection tag!!! I got the tage in June, found the high idle issue, the tag expired in July and, of course, the issue was just resolved this week. They don't care. No tag for me.

Since I don't have a trailer, don't want to rent a trailer, don't know anyone with a trailer, won't push the bike a couple miles to the inspector and don't want to bother anyone with a trailer for this stupid task, I'm gonna be riding with expired tags to get the bike to the station. Thus, I don't want to ride any farther than I have to.

PITA, but at least the bike is running well!

Once I've got the bike fully legal, then I'll get to some pics.

OH, and no...not gonna repaint the bike. Unlesss...........

..................Got any of that Kawi green left? ;)

Sorry, I meant to say National Arbortoreum (oops) I think you might not be able to get your bike inside the Botanical Gardens as it is an indoor museum - Another really cool place is a park I accidentally found by the Potomac River (you can see Reagan International from across the Potomac at this Park). Its got a statue called "The Awakening". Hmmmm...will think of some other neat places I went to while I lived up there .... Old Annapolis was cool, Ellicott City was awesome (most haunted place in America). That reminds me ... there is a restaurant in Annapolis that is the location where the first continental congress was held. All the employees swear the upstairs section of that restaurant is haunted.

Good luck with the DOT Nazis :-D

Isn't it ironic how America is the land of the free, Maryland is right next to Washington DC, and you've got to deal with a load of bull$hit like that?

Do you have any friends with similar suzuki's? If you do, just borrow their plate along with their registration and insurance info. Then when you get around the corner of the shop you want to go to, swap the plates back.:-D

Yeah, there's lot's of famous backgrounds for pic takin' around here. Of course, I try to NEVER enter the District these days. Why? Ever see the movie "Escape from New York"? ;)

I've been to the Arborateum (sp?) and I think I've taken some shots of those pillars, but I didn't know they were connected to Lincoln. The Awakening sculpture was so cool when I was kid - we always trid to climb to the top of the arm, couldn't and wound up hanging out on the hand. Good times.

Of course, can't take the bike to any of those places until I get a note from my mommy, eh, the State of MD. (Why does the "mad" smiley look Chinese?)

Negative. Even if I did, I wouldn't want to put someone else in the line of fire in case anything was questioned. It's easier (and more honarable???) to just drive illegaly. ;)
