A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am sure if Amitai was the guy you dealt with he will stand behind his sale. After all you are only talking about 1 piston. He seams like an honest guy to me with my dealings with him. You should have contacted him directly before publicaly calling him to the mat.

This site is full of the kind of guys who would step up and give you a single piston if they had one if you have been ripped off. (I would if I had one)

By all means welcome and join in. Just sorty out this issue with buddy.

We on GSR like to know who the scammers are because we buy and sell a lot here. We do have an ebay "deadbeat section"

We do not like being ripped off by anyone and come down hard on them. If I may suggest, contact Amitai directly and keep it private. At least to see if he is willing to do something for you.

Believe me, I went public on another issue once, a little to quick which ruffled some feathers but when it all settled down it was worked out.

good luck, I hope the two of you can work it out.

No response from him, but I guess I'm a liar and I'm very sorry to have disturbed everyone. I took a couple of pics but am not able to put on here.
I don't think anyone is calling you a liar. I'm just not one to jump on anyones band wagon. Having had problems myself with eBay, I just want to see the data. I see where you bought the item from pointshyofgenius. I am sending you my email address. If you want to send me the pictures, I will post them in this forum for you.

It is interesting that pointshy would have two accounts. There is certainly a way to verify this, but I don't think it matters as it shows in your FB who you purchased the parts from.

You know, I have never tried Lime Away. Let me know how it stacks up.

I am going to be the first to say I am glad you brought this up Dlind. I would have also. I am sorry you felt like the group was against you. If it was my account getting dragged into the mud in a public group I would also hope people would not jump to conclusions.

Points, I think you should have waited before firing back. It really does not help matters.

I am thinking that it's just a miss on Points part. His eBay accounts are clean. Had he known that parts were bad I'm sure he would not have sold them to you, or would least have put the information in the ad. I always try to be very careful when both selling and buying parts used. I normally will make a printout of the orignal ad if I am buying something I consider high risk. I also contact the seller before bidding. Ebay is a problem because many times it seems the seller has no idea what they are trying to sell and the buyer can see the parts first hand to know what they are getting into.

Points, may I offer some advice. I would offer to reduce the price based on the one bad part or if Dlind no longer wants the set, take them back less shipping. If there was a block involved, I am sure one sleeve is getting replaced as well. So you would need to figure this into the cost.
For sure, it would be in your best interest to put this matter to bed.

Thanks for sending the pictures Dlind. I have to agree, that last piston is nothing usable except for maybe an ashtray or shift knob on your car.

By the way, nice shop you have!

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Just make it right guys. It's all good :)

That is one ugly piston.....

That is one ugly piston.....

I finally received the pictures Dlind is talking about and went back and found the transaction (Mar '04). I never did unwrap all the pistons before shipping it. (a big mistake and my responsibility for sure... evidently also the same mistake Dlind made upon receipt - very interesting double error here!) so I have to say I can't know for sure if it was bad when I bought and then sold it. However, considering Dlind's feedback is OK and his misguided, cruel but passionate posting here, I have to assume he is telling the truth. So I will do what I would have done almost a year ago if he had contacted me at that time. I will either replace the piston (BTW: no block was involved) or refund his purchase price.

Lesson Learned:
Pointshy.... No shortcuts: just because those pistons came to me from a source I was comfortible with ..... and were well packed doesn't excuse me from opening, examining and repacking them before shipping... I will not make that mistake again!

Dlind...
1) Maybe not everyone is out to scam you. Good direct communication is essential in any relationship... business or otherwise. Many times email just doesn't work.... Try again, and again, use the phone or letter if necessary, before assuming someone is ignoring your one email because they are evil and want to cheat you.
2) Attacking me or anyone else on a public forum without taking responsibility for your own communications (or lack thereof) is harmful to all parties involved. You would have received the same resolution if you had contacted me privately... and without creating so much unnecessary drama!

Everyone:
1) Feedback on ebay can be a fairly good indicator .... No one gets to have hundreds of positive feedback AND NO NEGATIVE by cheating people. Trust sellers with that kind of feedback, they have earned it!

2) Mistakes happen, after all we are all human. But a mistake can not be corrected if it isn't identified.... (Sure wish Dlind had sucessfully contacted me back when this happened... considering he left positive feedback I had no idea he was secretly plotting character assasination.... 8O

3) It is a serious action to attack a person in public without exhausting all possible and available avenues of resolution first.... All I (any of us) have here in this digital cyber world are our good names, our reputations....
THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE DEFAMING SOMEONE IN PUBLIC!

Finally, thanks to all the GSR members for keeping it real, keeping it honest and of course keeping it about the bikes! I have learned everything I know about building GS customs from your posts....

I am forever grateful.... All the best, Amitai

Amitai

Amitai

So you received all the info you needed,Amitai, can you now E-mail me back so we can rectify our mistake, I agree this not the place to argue. Sometimes perhaps personalities collide and we can be a little condasending in our way of speaking to each other(no one wants to give in just save face). I would be quite pleased if you would send me a M.O. for $25.00 U.S. which I can put towards a new piston which I believe is still available from Wiseco(might have to modify weight). If that is satisfactory I would like to appoligize to Amitai and everyone for my actions on this post, like the Fonz said Ssssorryeee, hehe. Yours Truly, Dave Lind

I kind of get all teary, I love it when a plan comes together :D

Glad you guys worked this out.

Rock on!

It's all resolved now......

It's all resolved now......

Dave I accept your apology and I am also sorry that this mix up happened. I will send you $25 to put towards a new Wiseco piston as you requested ... just email me your current address and I will send out an international money order today. I really wish you all the best with your motor project and hope we can ride together some day.... after all we both know....
IT IS ALL ABOUT THE THRILL OF THE RIDE.

Hoomgar: All teary eyed and no place to ride.... will the ground hog come out early? Or will he hide. Get that project of yours on the road.... we're all pulling for you to hit 125hp on the dyno!

Ahh! A rider and a poet huh?

I think 125 BHP is a bit aggressive. It would be nice though :)
Like I say, if I can break tripple digits on the dyno with it then
I am happy. That's all we can hope for with that configuration.
I'm guessing it to come out at about 102 or 103. Joe says it may
do more. We wont know until we button it up and pop in on the Dynograph.
