A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After working on this deal for about 4 months, a crate finally arrived yesterday from Washington state. Inside was the newest project:

1982 Katana that was running before disassembly. PO stripped it down and bought a bunch of conversion parts from Katman I believe then never got to it. Bike had been totally stripped obviously. Conversion parts include gsxr750 usd forks, 954 drop triples, bandit swingarm, etc.

For inspiration I really dont have to look far. Some may remember I had a Kat with most of the conversion parts but I ended up selling it (hence this is Cool Kat II instead of I). It looked like this:

Sold to a guy named Kevin who drove all the way from North Carolina to pick it up. He got to work and after a bit it looked like:

After a few more months it now looks like this (and has an 1166 motor!):

That's a double braced JMC swinger. SICK!

Here's a few more pics of Katana inspiration:

This is Kevin's (the guy who bought my old Kat above) other Kat:

And of course the ultimate Cooley Kat:

Glad it all got there, the guy did not know if there was a rear shock, or if He lost it. The shipper sure did give me a funny look when I started unloading all those parts.

David as I have stated before thank you so much for all your help; couldn't have done it without you. Yeah I was wondering about the shock; exhaust didn't make it here either. I'll give Michael a call and hopefully they are in his garage somewhere.

Time to update your sig, russ .

I wish I found a Katana. And yours came from WA state. Good luck with the bike.

By the way, that white Katana with the black rims with red pin stripes is so sexy! Any info on that?

Thanks for reminder on the sig chainsaw; done!

You'll really be sick when I tell you it came from Payallup for well under $1K. If I was a smart man I would just part everything out and make a nice profit. What fun would that be though?

The white kat above was actually a concept of what a modern Katana would look like. I love the look and will try to get as close as I can. It's been my screen saver (along with the blue/white Cooley Kat) for the past year.

Very cool Russ! Luv it!

Thanks Joe!

Russ, I am offended that you did not include the suede seat as an inspiration for your Katana. :-\\\ G.....

Gordon if you would just sell me the Rat-Kat I wouldn't have to jack with this damn project in the first place! :)

A Katana for less than $1K!? Was this a craigslist deal or ebay? I am now sad that I missed out on this deal since Puyallup :p is not too far from me. But good for you, man.

Looks like that white Katana is combined with a GSXR minus all the fairings. I like everything about it except for the weird shaped exhaust . But a stock Katana still looks good .

I'll be watching this one.

Ok I'm confused. You had a perfectly good package which you sold earlier and then bought this parcel of goodies. How come:confused:

Change of heart?

Inquiring minds need to know:rolleyes:

cheers,
Spyug

Well, looks like it has begun. Won't be long before you are up to cool kat IIIIIIIIII

Well Spyug at the time I had the other Kat I was kind of wanting something modern to have in the garage with the GS's and the motor that was in that Kat was going to take some $$$$ and was going to be put on back burner so I decided to part ways. Always regretted it.

Fast forward 1.5 years and ZRX1200 is now gone b/c I was too busy riding the GS's to ride it and came across this deal and couldn't pass it up. So here we go again.

Rob the PO is a guy you sold a bunch of conversion parts to back in '07. His name is Mike W. in Washington state. Forks, bandit swinger, wheels, etc.

So first major snag. PO told me he had title. Bike gets here; no title. Talk to PO who says yeah he thought he had put it in his name but wasn't sure. Now PO (who is in Washington and I'm in Texas) won't respond to voice or email messages. Beautiful. So here we go with a ****ing title issue. Sigh.........
