A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Fine I got the sprockets, what about the chain?

The local dealer had these JT chains on for $88+ tax.Guessing it's a repackaged name brand.Didn't even notice it was gold at first because I opened it in a low light situation.

It looks pretty good IMHO. Isn't adjusted yet,ran out of daylight.

nice score on the chain, I should talk to your dealer, see what it would cost me to get a couple of those, need a new one for the GS and one for the FZ....everything I am looking at is over a hundred bucks easy.....

With the I got a bit of change from $100,sadly I think shipping would be expensive. It's heavy, nearly dropped mine because I wasn't quite expecting it to be so heavy.

Looks good Greg...I like the gold too. Kenco I presume? They are great!:)
Thanks Trevor, goes with the gold accents for sure.Kenco for sure, gotta love close and good:dancing:

I did it!!!:dancing: Got the new horns to work!Wired up with a relay Dale(rustybronco) supplied. If it seems I'm over reacting it's because the 78 1000 wiring melt down has me VERY worried about doing any electrical work.I'm quite impressed with how loud these cheap eBay from China horns are. Definite improvement from the stockers.

So excited I got the horns working I forgot the bad(ish) news.Seems the battery's toast.Pulled the 1000's battery and put that on the charger.Hopefully that will work good enough for now. Will be getting new AGM's for both, the 750 soon.

So I put both batteries in,no starter action:(Swapped out the solenoid to be sure, nothing:mad:Decided to get the starter out, means pulling out the carbs with all the hassles that brings:rolleyes:So once I got the starter out it was glad ,the one in the bike was sounding crunchy.Have one in my parts stash that's way better.Still on go on turning the motor over but it moved a bit so it was worth while.Found out my wintergreened boot are softer now than when I first did them.

Funny how the way you think things should work isn't how they do.Aligned the tabs on the air box boots to the top like I thought they should be.They just would not settle on the carb bells with the #3 carb being VERY stubbornly folding in.Turned 90 degrees and they just popped right down.If there was something in the manual I couldn't find it:evil:

All back together, mostly for good(I hope :D).Seat will be off to the upholsterer tomorrow:dancing:

Got a new Dowco cover,my old cover was bought as a dust cover for the SV.Was good for that but with no extra space I need a real cover for at least 1 bike

Got the seat today. As soon as I seen this "fabric" I was sold.it's got some grip to it as well, not a lot but it's there.

Was going to wait till morning but I couldn't.Really like it,the old cover will not ghost though anymore either:dancing:

Even better in the daylight Pete:D

Got some vinyl and fabric paint to redo the grab rail mounts and did the triple cover with it to.The metal piece of the rail was done with appliance epoxy.Should have done them the first time round:oops:

She's looking great Greg! I like how neatly that voltage display fits in too...

Finally after far to long SHE RUNS!!!!Took a bit of cranking with the new AGM battery and and trying to bump start it down the hill here.It started with the electric while we where taking a break pushing it back up the hill:-\\\Feels good to hear it after so long.Do have an issue with the tach,it won't read anything over 2000 RPM.If it doesn't fix itself I guess it's a trip into it's guts.Electronic so it's not a cable issue;)Insurance goes on tomorrow (Friday) and hopefully I will get to ride soon instead of talking about it!

Thanks Pete it's great to be on the road again!Runs real sweet to.Had some "issues" but nothing serious. The new chain really makes a big improvement on smoothness.Plugged in the heated vest this morning and the new stator kept right up to it.I'm even more happy with it now!:dancing:
