If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I loved every minute of it! :-D

Very nice Bruce...looks great. I don't know where you find the time to do all this....you retired or something?

Beautiful, well done. I love those skunks.
Most enormous example of irony I've ever experienced. I quote myself here asking for the readers to specifically notice the part about "loving skunks"..........

Guess what happened to my cat the same day I say I love skunks. Yep, got woken up by the stench!!!!! And am dealing with the aftermath this AM

Congrats Bruce. Looks great! Still working on my 78 1000e. BTW, your oil pressure guage looks great on mine. Good product.

HA! That's funny! Retired? I wish. More like re-tired, or retarded. I bought the bike in July, 2005. It was mostly finished last winter. The paint came in July '06, and it's taken me this long to finish it up! I just whittled away at it slowly between two businesses, two kids, and lots of honey-do's!

Now I can start putting together my other project.... another '78 GS1000 with a bored motor and lots of goodies. The Beast! \\:D/

Gotta love that polished valve cover. Nice.

That valve cover took me forever to do! What a knuckle-busting, bleeding, cracked skin job that was! Mostly done by hand and a dremel tool. But it was worth it, I think. You can't see it very well, but it does add alot to the engine appearance.

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!:-D
I can only hope for my bike to look that good.

Fantastic Work

Fantastic Work

I'd love to do the same to "stinky." My 78 is a skunk also and I gave it the name because of the many times in the last year I've walked out to a garage full of gas fumes caused by random carb/petcock issues.

Now that it is running consistently, I'd like to take mine down the same road as yours next winter. If it is still in the stable that is. PO really wants it back - now that it runs so dang good thanks to help from all of you!

I would start buying the stuff you need NOW. That way it's less of an impact on your wallet and you will have everything you need when you are ready. I bought alot of stuff either new or in better shape than what I had, and sold the leftovers on ebay. That helped offset my expenses. This bike had a pristine stock exhaust (once it was cleaned up) which I sold on ebay for $611.00! \\:D/ That helped me buy alot of stuff I needed.

I noticed a big spot you missed, Bruce ... I was walking by MY bike at the time ... there's dinner in it for you (going to pick it up right now)!!

VERY VERY Nice job, Buddy!!

Thanks for all the compliments.... much appreciated! And thanks for all the help, GSR! :-D

Wow! The difference in those pipes is amazing! They look great. thanks for the heads up on "Blue Job", I am going to have to purchase some of that.

Hey Bruce! You copying Black Beauty!?
Good work man. Makes me wish I had more desire to meet for the next western states ride.
On the techy side...are the blue pipes from the current jetting? The V&H pipe does "gold up" some once the jetting is right, but it won't turn blue. I've jetted a few 1000's with the same pipe and after many thousands of miles, even with a lot of hotter city riding, the pipe won't blue anywhere near that much if jetted right. A VERY slight hint of blue, maybe, but gold is all it should turn. Most of the time, this is because the jet needle is a bit too lean. Where are your e-clips at on the needles? Maybe a "1/2" position richer will help? Besides blue pipes, the rest of the engine will be running hotter too.
The Blue Job and Blue Away are good products but the chrome can start to dull and get thin if you use it quite a bit.

I wasn't trying to copy anyone's bike... trying to make it my own. But yours and mine do share alot of the same mods.

That pic of the blue pipe looks worse than it was... the flash enhanced it a bit. But the pipes do go gold with some blue. If anything, I think I am running a tad rich. I'm going to check the valves and adjust/synch the carbs with my new colortune and carbtune. Then I'll do some chop tests.

I don't think the V&H's of today are near the quality they once were. I'm planning on buying another one and having it ceramic coated on the inside.
