A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

that's about where my parts bike was when I got it. I pulled a couple parts off it and threw the motor in my other 850 and it fired right up after fresh plugs were put in it. I'm thinking about making it a side car bike. not sure. you are inspiring though if that thing runs when you're done!

It will run. As long as the bottom end is OK, it will run. Anything that can be dismantled can be reassembled, given enough time, parts and $$$.

I thought the whole point was to save money though! lol or get it going and looking decent for a couple hundred and sell it for a couple hundred more than that??? or just use it as a beat-around bike? There's a ton of things that can be done with it. You just want another bike to add to the collection or what??

No....the idea was to build a killer cafe on a budget. Plenty of folks have done just that, without breaking the bank.
Natch, after it's finished, it will be on the block. Like all the projects I've done to date, (all resto's up to this point) I will set an asking price, and a minimum that I won't go below. And if it sells, great! If not, I keep it until it does and feel no guilt.
Part of the problem with doing restorations is that people get in over their head and have to pay off their credit cards that they charged up during the restoration process....so they end up taking a loss just to get out from under the bike. So far, that's been a pitfall I've avoided, and so my only downside is it takes me much longer to finish them, and I'm tripping over them until they DO sell. Right now I have three I'm working, and I literally can't take on another until one goes. So, at least I'm motivated!:D

Here are a few color schemes I can think off the top of my head:
Grey & Red
Yellow & Black
Red & White
Blue & White
Orange & white or black

I see here it has been five months since I made a post update...which is fitting, as it was six below zero in my garage shop this morning. Well, I will assume it was, since I haven't poked my head out there in three weeks. And likely won't for another three.
However, these "mandatory vacations" from the objects of my affection always leave me refreshed and enthused after the Great White Layoff, and Holidays out of the way now, my head is beginning to percolate like a Mr. Coffee with GSIdeas for my project. Granted, I don't have any more capital than I did in August, but there are a lot of things that could/can be done without the ol' cabbage.
It always helps to view other people's projects for inspiration, which is what I've been doing lately. So with any luck, I should be making more frequent updates soon.
Until then, I have some snow to shovel.

Well, that brought a smile to my face!
Ain't seen a bare frame like that in...oh, five months?
Dammit, now I really wanna get rolling. What is all this white crap on the ground, anyway?
