    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Sorry if you have seen this as a double post.

BUT -- Thought might get more for it here.


OK - I have told you before about riding my bike to work and a co-worker saying he inherited his brothers RAGGED OUT 82 GS 1100.

This co-worker has been fiddling with this bike for a while and has it running.

I saw it and man it was thrashed................................

Anyhow he had a question and I could not answer.

HELP if you can.


- Siting on bike cylenders from left to right - 1,2,3,4
When the bike is cranked over and is warming up-

# 2, 3, cylanders warm up and pipes by head get hot quickly.
# 4 warms up (but a little slower) and gets warm then hot
#1 this cylender seems to take a considerable longer time to warm up.
enough to where after the bike has been running a couple minutes you can tap the pipe and it not be near as hot as the others (cool in comparison) yet not cool , you know.

Anyhow - his bike seems to run well.
No spit or sputter.
Sounds good - but

Just the pipe heat difference - any answers ?

Is the cold pipe syndrome only while it's on choke? Have the carbs been cleaned recently? If it runs good, it may just be the choke circuit. Valves adjusted? I would do some chop tests on it to see if it really is running the way it should.

Probably carb issues, as has been noted, but keep in mind the two problem pots share the same coil So check the coil as well, easiest way would be to simply swap the leads.

Also...what the heck does 'pinks' have to do with this?
 
I was just giving reference that he has a bike that looks like the one that beat the V-rod HARLEY on PINKS.

I will tell him to flush the carbs and check the compression.

BTW- I believe he said it was fine once it warmed up - so I am guessing it is like that while the CHOKE IS ON .. and it is warming up.

-Why would that matter - I aminterested in knowing for myself.

The choke circuit is seperate from the rest of the system. It could be gunked up. Once the bike is warm the choke circuit is shut off and the bike runs off of different air and gas jets.

BEST PART IS -

I will help him do his and see the inner workings of the carbs (without ripping mine apart)
THUS- I can later do mine without flying blind.

HE WILL BE THE TEST PIECE....
 
I had the same problem cold.It ended up,after trying everthing else,being the carbs out of sync.Even a very small adjustment will make or break it.
