A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

got a few questions. this is my first bike and my first time customizing a bike.
1: i want to lower the rear and i would like to find shorter shocks and springs so i can do it the right way instead of cutting the springs.

2: I want to find a set of drag pipes for it

3: i want to know if i can and how hard it would be to put a corbin gunfighter seat on it

4: i want to swap out the stock 3.3 gal tank for something bigger like a gs 850 tank, what kind of work would i have to do to make it fit and would it fit with a stock 750l seat

Any info i can get on these questions would be awesome, thanks for your time!

Hi there and welcome. I've been on a similar track with my 81 GS750E.

1: you can search for shorter shocks on ebay. Uncompressed eye to clevis on mine were around 13". I found a set that measured 12.5". Not much of a drop, but I also changed the rear wheel to a gsxr wheel that's small in dia.

2: Search for a Vance and Hines Sidewinder header and megaphone.

3: Don't know

4: Oh, you can make anything fit. Take measurements of the front mounting point and rear. The rear can more easily modified.

5: Source 93-96 gsxr front end and do swap to USD forks and 16" front wheel.

BTW, got any pics of your bike?

Thanks fo the help! i dont have any pics yet, but come sping time when its all done up ill be putting up some pics. im lookign to probbly drop the rear down about 2 inches. i cut about 1 1/2"-2" out of the stock springs for mock up puroseses and i love the way it sits, and actually the way it rides also. To get that kind of stance im pretty sure i would need 11" shocks and springs. oh well i guess that the pint of a chopper is to be chopped huh? lol
