A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hello, my gs1000g has an 1100 motor on it. I want a vance and hines exhaust 4:1 for it and I was wondering if the 1000g and the 1100g is the same exhaust? Can someone point me in the correct direction for this? Thanks- James

Engine code is
U701-100661

Same exhaust for both as far as the motor is concerned. Just get the exhaust number for the model year of the bike. The street pipe part number is 12005.

I don't know for sure if there is a difference in the aftermarket pipes, but I don't think the 1000 and 1100G mount the same as the 1000 and 1100E, so make sure your new pipe is compatible with your G.

The engine end (header pipes) will be the same, the differences will be where they attach at the rear.

I had a stock 1000g system on my '79 1000n for several years. It fit perfectly with no modifications to anything and looked 99% correct. The 1% was the notch on the right heat shield had the indent for the brake lever slighly out of place and it had the nicer aluminum head pipe clamps vs the cast iron and plated stock ones. Not sure what year it was off but was probably an earlier 1000g system. As far compatibity with a system from the 16v 1100s I'd be surprised if anything is easily adaptable.

Considering that the 1000G was only around for two years ('80 and '81) with virtually no changes, your choices are rather slim. :-\\\

should i Jet it for the 1000g or the 1100? I included the motor number on here I tried to decipher it before with no luck other than it was an 1100. Thanks again for the advice

Like I said above... Get the pipes for the 1000G. The engines dimensions are identical between the 1100G and the 1000G so that has no bearing on the what pipe you get. The V&H part number for a 1000G is 12005 for the street version. If you want to be really obnoxious then you can get the drag pipes using part number 12001.

Just for reference sake, the 1100E pipes will bolt up to the 1000/1100G engine but the rear mount is above the pipe while the correct pipe for the 1000G is below the pipe so you will need to fabricate a new rear mount. That's what I'm doing with my current project.

I have a 4/1 Jardiene set up off a 80 1000G on my 80 1100L, you might have to fudge the rear mount but should be OK.
