A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Questions on bore and cam kits...

You can drop in the higher lift cams anytime you want to. I just thought you'd want to unleash the beast right away while you have it apart. You don't need to change cams to degree in the cams just an adjustable cam sprocket. A machinest can do this to your stock sprockets or Ape sells them. See Big Jay. Not sure he sells them for the pre-80 750s. I would just mod yours.

What 49er is saying is that you will keep the thickness of the cylinder walls with the 850 jugs and the bike won't overheat. The stock pistons will give you a 8.8-1 compression ratio compared to the Wiseco 10.25-1. The Wiseco will give you more punch but you'll need an oil cooler if driven in traffic.
The different CR depends on the area over the piston during the compression stroke. The smaller the area the higher the CR.
I would do the Wiseco kit but hurry cause of what Big Jay said.

Any place i can find a price on the Web cams?? i know the Wiseco kit (last i looked) was going to run me about 500 bucks.

And the oil cooler was already in the plans, simply because this entire motor will be painted black due to its ROUGH complexion. Poor thing...all it wanted was some love. This new motor ( i pick it up tomorrow :) ) will stay stock and get blinged out. But since i have the extra strong running 750 motor i figured why not make it a bore project. Thanks for the info guys! Im sure ill have more questions as i collect the neccessary parts. I need to find an oil cooler too, if ya guys know of anyone selling them. I have the bolt fitting in my oil filter cover, so that should work yeah??

You have two ports on your filter cover? If you do any transmission cooler, 1150 or any motorcycle cooler will work if you can get it mounted.

no just the one...i guess ill need to look for an oil filter cover with two also..

You have the cover that has the oil pressure switch built into it. Ask Renobruce how he tapped into his. A guy from Australia named Terry makes them.

Then i take it thats PER cam. Ok so those may have to wait a bit. I can have a buddy machine the sprockets however in the meantime, and get my bore kit. I have a 16 valve motor here and i think the pressure switch is built into the cover on that...dunno if it will fit but i can check it out.

Oh well then that's not soo bad...man that site is nice...i can see myself getting into a set of Mikuni RS34's for this thing eventually too....This WILL be a balls out Cafe if i keep this up...lol

Hey Bill how much tinkering and rejetting did you have to do with your bore kit? Am i going to be in for a nightmare with these VMs?? Since this is a project motor and im in no hurry to get it finished since i want it to be right and have another motor inthe meantime, Im considering just saving up for a set of these RS34's to go on this motor whence i get it finished.

34's are too big! You need 33 smoothies! Plus they are old school! \\:D/

web cams are right at $400.00 with all the shipping costs. It takes about 2 weeks. you should groove the mounting holes on the sprockets to adjust cam timing. .395 are good cams for the street. super springs are not necessary but won't hurt. you still may use the shim over adjusters too. I have a dealer# there so if you are serious just say when.
