I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Quick paint color name question.

Forum Newbie
Hello, 1st time to forum, thanks for all the great info. I’m adding a fairing to a 1979 GS 1000L and it’s painted in the deep, dark metallic blue (almost black looking with purple-ish hues in some light). Does anyone know the name Suzuki gave this paint color? I’m not worried about matching at this point, just looking for a way to reference the color and order something close online. Once I finish mock up and decide to keep a fairing or not, at that point I’ll get something color matched to the tank.

Thanks!

Here’s a pic next to the black vinyl seat I’m using if that helps distinguish the color fifference.

Really close…. I found that color on a tank on an auction site, it looks slightly lighter though.

If you follow the link provided earlier, you will see that there were only two colors for the 1979 GS1000L. Maroon or Blue. It could be that your bike was painted? Or the tank is from a different model.

I’ve seen the episode of Jon’s Motorcycle rescue where he owned an L in the past, and the color looks like it matches. Based on that, and that it was the only blue available for the year, I’m thinking Pearl Stardust Blue is probably the one. The NOS tank photo that looks different could just be the lighting.

Thanks for the help finding the paint name, I’ll give it a try.
