    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Quick question about the carb spec chart

I need to get a new pilot jet for my 450L. In looking at the chart on BikeCliff's site (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/images/carbspec_float_height.html), I see two different ones listed, a 17.5 and a 45. It looks like there are 3 different ID numbers listed for the BS34SS. Is there a simple way to figure out which one I have? I'm not at home right now, otherwise I'd look for a stamping or something, so forgive me if it's that simple.

By the source, I mean the Suzuki parts fiche.

I find that chart on BassCliff's site (and in the carb spec thread) confusing also for the 450's as most of the entries are for the "D" models which is 1983, and they're different to the 1980 - 1982 ones in alot of areas.

You should have the same as me, which is a "Z" or 1982 year (going by your previous posts, might want to put your bike year and model in your signature :)).

So, you should need the 17.5 pilot jet.
 
I've just been looking through the Sudco PDF of all their Mikuni carbs, jets, and so forth.

You really want to look closely at what you need and compare it to what's in there before ordering. There're three pilot jets that look very similar, but only one comes in 17.5.

I have seen some confusing info around too... such as a blanket statement on another Mikuni site that says all VM34 carbs have the large hex type main jet, but I know for a fact that my '82 450E's carbs have a round head style main jet.

So, take your time and compare what you have with what's in there before making your purchase.

I'm sure someone else has encountered this before and I'm sure there's a reference somewhere that clarifies this, but I haven't found any so far...

Awesome, thanks! I figured it was the 17.5, as I went to two different dealer sites and pulled up their part list for the carb, and both had the 17.5 listed.
 
No probs Mike, let us know what you do and what part number you get etc. as I'm still confused about the different types...
