A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I bought this a few weeks ago:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/06-HONDA-RU...ies&vxp=mtr&hash=item562b2da5f0#ht_1498wt_952

Thought it just had dust on it by looking at the picture... uh, no. It's stuffed full of dirt and sand, even the box was full of dirt  I'd like to take it apart and spray it out with some electrical cleaner, do they even open up? There's only 2 screws I can see, on the back. They're a torx head with the pin in the center, and of course I don't have that type of bit...

Also, in my searching I'm getting conflicting answers to another question, there's 6 pins, obviously 3 for the stator, pos, neg, and I'm finding that the remaining pin may or may not be for a sense wire? One thread I found said there was no change in charging with the wire hooked up or not, little lost there.

Leave the dirt where it is. It will only get replaced over time.

I used electrical connector cleaner and lubricant, and wet-r-dry sandpaper to clean the connections.
If you have 6 wires you are correct:
3 - stator
1 - 12V output, wire to battery with 15-20 Amp in-line fuse
1 - Ground, make sure it ends up at the battery negative post
1 - sense wire, extremely important. If it does not see any voltage or too little voltage you will see well over 16 Volts output, which has a habit of burning things out, like headlights.

The pins are in great shape, really clean. There's a thin aluminum panel on the back and dirt and sand is behind it, the thing sounds like a rattle when you shake it. Not even sure what's back there, might not be a big deal to try and separate it and clean it out I guess...
