    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello friends,

I did some more work on Jessie this weekend, snapped a few pictures, and wrote up another little guide on how to replace your r/r and hung it on my little BikeCliff website. It's no biggie, but the new mechanic might get some use out of it.

You know what I did the other day? I googled "bikecliff" and half of the hits on the first page were about my little website! I was shocked!

I seriously mean it when I say the service you provide is priceless, and you deserve some credit for singlehandedly helping keep these great old bikes on the road. I'm replacing mine as soon as the part arrives from Bike Bandit, so I'll be looking at your guide soon.

What impresses me even more is that apparent third hand that Cliff has grown to be able to take pictures while wrenching. :shock:​

Great article.

I just replaced mine last Tuesday with a 2003 Honda CBR600 R/R. It came with three yellow wires, two red, and two green. I soldered the three yellow to the stator wires, the two red to a 15A fuse, the 15A fuse to the original red R/R wire on the bike, and the two green went to the original ground. Now I'm thinking that red wire could be going through the fuse and the fuse box alike. Will have to verify that tonight. I thought I'd traced it back to just the positive on the battery, but want to be sure, now.
 
BassCliff, you're the best. My R/R does not look anything like the one in photo #2 (the stock Suzuki model). I've been testing mine and I'm ready to replace it (duanage is sending me a new one) so I've had it off the bike and it looks just like Honda one you show. Is it possible Suzuki used a different one on my bike or could the service people (who had my bike a couple years ago) messed up something on my bike and replaced it without me knowing?

Hi Mr. slowride,

I think it's more possible that a previous owner replaced the r/r at sometime in the past. If you're the original owner, then I don't know. 8-[
