    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

R1 exhaust, sources?

I'm looking to replace my old and loud yosh exhaust can (keeping the header) by replacing with a newer exhaust can, such as from an R1, which I hear a couple people have done, and from what I've seen, it looks great!

I am wondering if anyone has a good source for them. I've tried Ebay, but with shipping included, I can't seem to get one for much less than $70-80. anyone know where I could get a better price? doesn't even have to be an R1 can either, I'm just looking for something with that general styling and size.

That's way too much for an OEM can (I assume you are not after an aftermarket one). Look at GSXR canisters then. I often see '00-up 750 cans go for less than $20. If you catch it right, you should get one for maybe $10-$15 plus shipping. The GSXR cans are very light and flow more than enough air for our purposes.

Have you tried re-packing your Yoshimura can? I have a Yosh on my 1100 and it's not loud at all, until I'm past 6,000 RPMs, then it opens up a little bit.

This is the third bike i've owned with a Yosimura. I've never thought any of them to be loud. The can that was on my 600 Ninja had to be re-packed more often because I was too cheap and used fiberglass insulation for the packing. It would last about 2,000 miles before it needed to be packed again.
 
do you have pictures of how exactly to take it apart? I'd like to repack my current one, but I can only get two of the screws out, the other one is a different story. Apparently the PO tried to get it out, broke off a screw extractor, and then tried to drill it out. it's an ugly mess.
 
I don't have any pictures, but there are three or four screws on the front of the can that holds it onto the aluminum ring that attaches it to the pipe. If the srews are broken or stripped out, you can just rotate the can a little when you put it back on and drill and tap new holes in the ring.

Once the can is off, you just wrap the new packing around the baffle. Make sure you wire it on before you slip the can over it. The wire will hold the packing in place.
