    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

    Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

    So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I had a good opportunity to test out my relatively new gear on my 50 min, 35 mile ride home in steady rains today.
First my Hawk helmet worked great, no drips in the face shield or neck area....and the flip down shade works great over prescription glasses for sunny days too...product link:

Next, the jacket worked fine for 45 min of wet ride but started to leak in a couple spots during the last few miles... I usually put rain gear over for days like this, but I wanted to test the rain layer. Got it in red for visibility and this jacket is also good for 40 degree weather with the full sleeve poly liner and zips up nicely to the pants....product link:

...and the pants held out well, a little wet spots at the seat where you butt sits and water has a tendency to pool, and also great with the liner for temps under 40F....

..and last was the new rear Avon RoadRider...great tire on dry roads and had sure footing today in the wet. Yes, I cut some speed in the corners on wet roads but they didn't slip or slide and gave a confident feel on otherwise slick roads. Reminder-just remember those white lines or white arrows can be like ice when turning and accelerating too quickly coming on and off primary roads. Product link...

Maybe I could post this in the review section but it's good for discussion and maybe helpful feedback here.:)
NOTE: I just realized I posted in the tech section instead of the discussion section...can't move it....

BTW, to keep it GS tech related...the GS1100E runs great in steady rains with the pods. Some have expressed concern about pods and rainy weathy riding behavior. You may have jetting issues to work out first, but once done the rain shouldn't adversely affect the bike. Just try to keep the extra horsepower from spinning the rear on wet roads!!

I've had the unpleasant opportunity of riding my new nelson Rig rains suit along with the 1100E almost every day for the last two weeks here in Philly.` Only got caught in the rain without the rainsuit once. at least it's summer.

the 1100E has held up remarkably well in the rain. much better than my 650G. I'm happy about that, but concerned about the rust that may be the side effect.
