Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Random Photo thread

I've been running back and forth to Southern Colorado every weekend, usually passing this area in the dark. Finally seeing the Sangre De Cristo Mountains was a nice treat. The phone's camera can only catch a glimpse.

Looking off toward the East where Taos and Questa are from the Tres Piedras area.

And a Happy New year to you, Dave, and all that contribute to this great forum.

IMG_20251219_152225.jpgthis little dude has been coming around every day.
First saw it a couple of weeks ago picking up lychies that had fallen on the ground.

Still a young un, dad rejects them around a year old because they, (primary carer of the nest and chicks), have a new batch to look over. Have seen then this age still with their dad.

Out for short drive and walk yesterday and bumped into this herd of Elk grazing in the outskirts of town. This is about 1/2 of the herd and counting the ones that weren't in the photo the herd would be about 200.

Charmayne and the kids came over Friday night leaving today. Knowing they are starting to get old enough, I thought I'd ask for their help moving the Bandit inside the shop. So after moving my woodworking tools around, I gave them both a short ride

Rose is about 3-1/2 foot tall now at 4 but her 2 year old brother Hunter is only a foot shorter

Wearing Grandma's helmet:

and their rides

Hunter is still way too short in the legs right now

Rose can just about reach the rear pegs

Not quite sure why the videos won't play but it probably has something to do with Flickr

Late March, when can catch sunset between the two lighthouses like this.

(is a vidio, might need to click it to get the vidio to run)

CAmera (Panasonic GX85) has function to take successive shots for a number of shots. I think I did 100 shots at 12 second intervals, and then made a video at something like 10 frames per second. dont really recall the specifics, but something like 15 minutes before sunset and 5 minutes after.
The difficult part is figuring where to setup tripod and how to frame it, but I had been there a couple evenings prior so that made it easier.
Other thing is determine what to do with the exposure as it changes in that 20 minutes. I chose an auto mode and set the target away from expected path of the sun

I wanted to be in a position to catch the sunset traverse all the way, I missed it some as it went partly behind the lighthouse, but what I did catch was better.
Notice what happens after seems like sun should be completly below the horizon.
