A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All,

I've been off the GS Resources for a couple of years and just got signed back up yesterday. I used to hang around the Performance forum, so I figured I would put this here. I see a lot of familiar names still here keeping the faith. I still have my 82 GS1100E and it has been joined by an 06 GSXR1000 and an 06 CRF50 for my kids.

It's good to be back, I will be lurking around and seeing what comes up that I need to do to the GS in the future.

Good to have you back. How do you like the GSXR?

It is utterly amazing. Ungodly power (everywhere, any gear), and the handling is superlative, at least for me. I will never be fast enough to criticize much on it. It feels mostly like a 160hp dirt bike, you can throw it around at will and it never hints that you won't make it through OK. My one complaint is that I would like more front brake. I don't think that there is really anything wrong with it, but the thing generates so much speed, so quickly that I just want more whoa power. I bought it new last summer (first new bike in almost 20 years!) and haven't done anything more than change the oil once in a while and put gas in it. I will be bleeding the brakes next weekend and we will see if that does much. Then a set of kevlar lines and new pads if I want more, then cast iron rotors if I need the ultimate...

The riding position isn't even that bad, considering how severe it looks. I fit well (5'9", 160lb) and 1-1/2 hour rides on the backroads are no problem. If you were a lot bigger than I am, it would be an issue, though.

I have a 94 I bought brand new (my last new bike). Compared to the GS it is like a jet fighter compared to a sopwith camel. It handles quite good for its weight. It sounds like yours is much more rider freindly. If I stay on mine for much over an hour I am beat. I pretty much do the same thing, gas, oil, filters, tires, sprokets and chains. To date the only things that have broken out of the norm was the seat key lock (made too cheap IMO), the water pump (seals gave out at 16,000 miles or so), the spring for the side stand and the petcock knob.
All in all a good bike. My only real bitch about mine is that it will not run in cold weather. Then I have to brake out the old air cooled GS.

Ergonomics are much improved over the older GSXR's. I had an 86 750 and it was a torture rack compared to this one. You would be amazed at how much better this one is than your 94, they have made huge gains almost everywhere. The weight is the most shocking to me. If you sat on the 1000 and the 600 with a blindfold on, you would have a hard time knowing which was which from the feel and weight.

Good to see you posting Mark. I've grown a little tired of the place but still check in once in awhile to see if anything interesting is going on. I've got a new round of suspension mods going on right now. Fresh paint will follow sometime this summer. Once the chassis is sorted out I need to get around to using all the stuff I have for the motor.

Take care.
