A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Re-Jetting due to altitude?

I believe my '78 GS1000E was run by the P.O. closer to Sea Level. Here in Saskatchewan we are at 1850 FT above. I have yet to check the jetting but maybe it's not a big deal? I've ordered intake boot O-Rings so I'll probably check it then. What should I consider if I was to re-jet? I'm running stock headers with Dunstall replica muffs. Everything else is stock.

At 1850 feet, I would just jet it for stock, and maybe just back of a bit on the fuel screw to lean it out just a bit.

.

I asked that very same question of Dynojet when I put a stage I kit in my 97 ZX-9. I live in Calgary, Alberta, at 3500ft or so. They said no adjustment was required for my altitude, so you should be fine.

1800 feet altitude would not require any jetting changes.

No changes should be needed for that elevation difference.
Now if that different exhaust flows better than stock you might want to do some specific throttle position runs and read the plugs. Of course, the bike must be tuned well to get reads you can trust.
If it does flow better and effects the jetting, I'd guess that simple richer adjustments at the pilot fuel screws and possibly a 2.5 richer main jet would be all that's needed. I doubt the jet needles would need a change. That's just guessing however. Your exhaust wouldn't need too much of a change I believe, if at all. Test to be sure.

Thanks guys, once all the little stuff is done I'll do just that.
