man...i wish id have known earlier bout that sissy bar..got a universal i just gave away that i pulled off of that yammie..paid 75 bucks for that yammie, gave the sissy to a friend and sold the windshield it had on it for 40 bucks, so in reality i paid 35 bucks for a bike that runs , need to get the carbs situated tho..sat for 7 yrs with a lil gas in em, broke em down and cleaned em, put em on put a battery in and kicked it once and she fired right up on choke..but w/o choke she croaks. Anyways...ill keep an eye out for a decent sissy..check with Cobra...they usually have some decent stuff..my pops got a nice one from them for is new Vulcan 900. Its sharp...

Cool, I just got finished removing the bags off the Intruder, and put them on the GS cuz I have a new set of bags coming, via E-Bay....found a 7 piece set for like $41 new($60 with shipping)...I've become spoiled having bags....stash my riding gear, amongst other stuff. So, while I had the bags off, since I had to remove the whole damn seat to get to them, I pulled my rear air box off, plus the carb, and cleaned all of it, and waxed whatever I couldn't reach before, I've had a problem with the Intruder with the rear jug not firing at idle....that's why I cleaned(wasn't really gummed up or anything ) the rear carb. But, it's still doing the same thing, so it may be electrical...not sure yet, it still runs great, but, if I let it " warm up " for too long, over time, it dilutes the oil with the unburnt fuel....which is not a good thing, since the thing isn't firing on that jug. Going down the road is fine. I was browsing(as usual) E-Bay to find a universal windshield for the GS as well....haven't found one I like yet....I don't want a big gaudy one, just one to break the wind. The weather is turning chilly up here, and want to ride as long as possible, and having the shield helps out a lot! And I plan to " park " the Intruder for the season cuz I have a oil leak that I need to get fixed before next year..... me and some buddies from work are thinking of riding to Sturgis SD so I want her to be in top shape! I thought about riding the GS....but....a 1000 trip on a old beast like her.....don't yet trust it enough...not that I doubt it would make it, but I haven't yet gone completely through the wiring, and re-done all the grounds and connections to feel confident enough in trusting it to go that far.....around here, or a few hundred miles....probably with no worries....but beyond 600.....would rather not take the chance, nor could afford the bill to get her back home.
Thanks for the compliment, and looking forward to seeing the pics with the new fender.....might inspire me to do the same.....I don't much care for the factory one as it is.....I thought about cutting up mine, but I'm not much good in the fab dept. Mechanical, yes, electrical, yep...paint....only on small stuff...like the bike stuff....fabbing....forget it....mostly due to a lack of the proper tools, and no experience. I thought the GS would look cool to cut flames into the fenders, but...as I said, without the proper tools(plasma cutter) and a lack of artistic abilities....that is going to be a no go. I'd like to find a sissy bar with a back-pad.....if you know of anyone that has one...let me know....I can't find sh*t up here.

Link to those bags? I've been playing around with the idea of getting some. I like being able to stash things like a squirrel but I hate how gawdy some bags can look.... And hmm not firing aye? I don't know much about motorcycle mechanics but I'm good with cars. Checking your electrical is a good bet seeing as there really isn't any other reason for the back cylinder to not be firing. Might even be just a f*cked spark plug, but then again the not firing only at idle rules that out. Well if worse comes to worse give it a bit of gas at long stops and get it up out of idle. Cuz yeah unburnt fuel REEKS havoc on cylinder walls. Which is why I'm a major fan of F.I.. Hardly any cylinder wear to worry about.... And damn those windshields must be a hot ticket. Alot of people seems to want one. I personally don't like them. I think they're fugly but then again I don't really have a purpose for one. The weather is usually hot as f*ck down here. And when its not hot its at a nice cool 85 degrees. And yeah I know what you mean about taking the GS on a nice long trip like that. A bit scary . But i think it'd be cool. A nice departure from the norm...... Yeah and I'm with you about the factory fender. I'm not a fan of it. But like you I have ZERO fab skills so this is gonna be an experiement. Besides we all have to start somewhere right. So right now I'm just trying to look at the pic of Isaac's bike that I got and see how he mounted that fender

And today is your lucky day. I so happen to have a sissy bar. Complete with padding. AND a little luggage rack. Aren't you lucky we're friends lol. Pay for shipping and its yours. The stupid thing is taking up space and I hate sissy bars. Only thing is that its chrome and its pretty rusted. I'll try and take the rust off and get pics up. Found my camera BTW

Heh, that's the story of my life....day late dollar.....ehh...you know the rest...to tell the truth though, I just thought about it the other night after putting my bags on, and I have a rear bag that attaches to the sissy bar, and I really use that bag a lot....and thought " hmm....sure could use a sissy bar right about now..." and the grab bar just doesn't cut it.

Oh, and Iron.....after taking a june-bug to the throat one time, and nearly knocking me off the bike, I much more prefer the shields!:)

Thats just too funny. I'm sure I'll learn my lesson the hard way though. But for now I'll cruise without one. Sorry I wasn't able to get any pics up today, got called into work. Or VatoZone as our esteemed colleague, Mr. Pickard, likes to call it

Well I need to get pics of everything lol. Gotta take some of the sissy bar for Intruder and then I gotta get some update pics up (just got the Dynaglide fender in and I can't wait to get it on). But all thats gotta wait till tomorrow. How's your cafe? Those shocks come in yet?

Dude!.....you work at the Zone?!.....man, I should own stock in them!....I've been going to the one in the city I work in since they opened, and that's been several years......hell, I know all the managers, most of the employees' ( high turnaround) and.....have even toyed with the thought of getting a part time job there.....( since I'm usually there 3 to 4 times a week!!).....but, it's not that I need the job, just thought that since I'm always there, I might as well get the employee discount.....but, then again, the manager I know always hooks me up.....so.....The Zone rocks!!

I had a S-10 that I bought several years ago, that I re-built with all Zone stuff.....lowered it, painted it...ect...it was a nice truck when I got done.....matter of fact, was just there today, and bought a new cover for the GS, plus a valve cover breather( one of those little chrome blue cone ones) ....the cover only cost me 6.99 thanks to the rewards program.....

Seems that this thread is only a 3-way conversation now between you, me, and Cafe......ah well....you guys are cool regardless....sh*t.....I still need to send you the link for the bags....I'll try to get that to you either tonight or tomorrow....

naw they wont ship till weds...bummer, but they'll be worth waitin for..got em for a steal off a one of the guys on the DoTheTon site...$280 shocks rode for one season i got em for 180..said they're too stiff for him but hes a little guy, me im 6'4 260..should be all good...hehehe

Hell yeah I work at AutoZone, it rules cuz its like my toy store. And yeah employee discount is the sh!t. Especially when rebuilding an old bike. And to tell you the truth the reason I got a job there was because the discount was enticing. Of course this was when I had a small P.O.S. toyota that we were making road worthy for my brother because he needed a car. Then I bought a Ranger and yeah that damn little truck is so dependable its not even funny. I treat it like **** and its never left me anywhere. So my discount went largely unused for a while until I got the GS. Now I make a few trips in a day whenever I'm working on a bike just ot pick up things I need for it

And yeah I've noticed that its only been us three but its all good. You guys are cool. Thanks for the link btw

Too cool man. I love getting deals like that. One man's semi-junk is another's badass treasure huh. 6'4 260 eh? Damn you guys make me look like a midget. I bet Intruder is like 6 something also. Puts me to shame for sure

Not quite bro.....more like 5'9 180'ish.....you need to put the bug in the big-wigs ear at the Zone that they'd get a lot more biz if they carried bike parts, and not just eye-candy(skull stickers that SOME people here don't like!!:-s).....unless they already do in your area...up here in Indianus they don't.

Hey what do you know there's someone else on here shorter than 6 feet also. I'm actually 5'9 180 also... You know I was thinking about suggesting something like that. But I really wouldn't know where to begin suggesting it. Especially since AutoZone is going through a change right now. They're selling more of the Duralast brand now than others, so its like they're trying to make more profit and cut out outside vendors but I'm just a lowly peon so i dunno... But yeah a parts place that sells motorcycle stuff would be badass. Its annoying having to go to the dealer whenever I want to get a special part especially since they're usually arrogant b@stards who for some reason seem to not want my money.

Ive got a complaint about Duralast...they're alternators SUCK...just my viewpoint. I *just* put one in my volvo about 3 weeks ago..and its not charging already...What gives?? Do they have a warranty on that? I didnt pay attn at the store, i was in a hurry.

Oh....
#2 if there was a person that came up with a parts store that catered to ALL makes/models of bikes....would prolly put the dealers to shame, seems that the ones I have dealt with were small mom/pops stores, but their prices wern't much cheaper since they had to pay for over-head also, PLUS compete......they didn't last long, but, a chain like the Zone....should capatalize on that idea.....might have to mention that to my manager buddies....
later guys...time for bed for me...

Yup intruder's got a point. And really its just a crap shoot when getting a Duralast part. Some people have had the same part for years while others go out every year. And yes they have warranty. Lifetime warranty actually. I just hope you gave them the right phone number to look up the warranty.... But I'll go ahead and tell you why the Duralast and the Valucraft parts are crap. When they say premium rebuild they're just sh!tting you. The reason they take back the core part is because they open it up see whats bad with it and only replace THAT part nothing else. So that means that the next time that someone buys that part, something else is gonna fail. We recommend Duralast Gold for a reason. Duralast Gold is 100% brand new. Everything brand spanking new. But on that same note I've noticed that the Duralast Gold batteries SUCK. The cheapo valucraft all black ones are pretty good. They hardly ever crap out

HA! i have a duralast gold battery, and it too crapped on me, but i think in large part to the crappy alternator...*sigh* if its not one thing its another...bike running rough...car wont start...BAH! lol

Yup that'll do it. An alternator crapping out will take out a battery.... I also have another theory about cars and car parts. I noticed that things go out on cars in trends. Like one month we'll sell ALOT of starters and hardly any alternators. Then we'll sell ALOT alternators and no starters. And its all happens in monthly or weekly trends. Which leads me to this theory: There's someone sitting in detroit that decides what part gives out for that month and pushes a button and blam they go out on cars everywhere

Man I finally finished reading through all of this.

Intruder Good looking bike I thought of use that mirage paint on my bike, but rather then painting the whole thing with it just have some flames painted that color.

I try to avoid the Zone anymore because the refused to sell me an edelbrock carb for my small block chevy in an El Camino, because it wasn't in there computers.

So now I useally go to advance. Plus its a little closer.
