DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This probably a small part fo the future. I have been knocking around reading on this type of product and a found some disturbing news.:

""Consider this account by the New York Times, using as its source the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the American Petroleum Institute (API): "Each year, 1.2 BILLION gallons of lubricating oil are used in vehicles; 600 million gallons are burned up in engines, and 600 million gallons are removed at oil change time. Drivers who change their own oil account for 350 million of the removed gallons, and they improperly discard 240 million gallons of used oil." 1
Dumping 240 million gallons of oil is nearly the same as two Exxon Valdez spills each month. Improperly dumped waste oil seeps through landfills into ground water, disrupts bacterial digestion in sewer treatment plants (causing even more pollution), and washes into lakes and harbors. And we have no confident estimate of what happens to "properly" discarded waste oil. In 1989, there were only four re-finers left in the U.S. They processed a total of only 50 million gallons of the 600 million gallons theoretically possible.2""

Hi,

Wow. I bring my used oil to my local Pep Boys (auto store) garage. I hope they recycle/dispose of it properly. :o

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I use them too (because they're closest to my house).

Actually oil changes are maintenance. Or maybe you think it chooses and changes itself without consideration.

But the info you posted is a story about oil, not informative or inquiring about oil changes

Just givin you a hard time, don't get your dick all oiled.

Im sorry but did you guys not look at the link.
Its as worthy here as anything about Mobil 1 or toher brands.

Has anyone here used re-refined oil? Would they in their bikes?
Thats where I was coming from. I didnt even know the stuff existed before today.

I think it is worth one of you risking your bikes on go ahead do it.

On bikes with the gearbox running in engine oil, used oil would not protect very well. The gears actually shred the oil molecules causing the viscosity to decrease or something technical like that.
On other beater bikes with separate transmissions, or crappy old cars it's probably good enough. It's probably great in a lawnmower or a Harley, but no one ever changes oil in those. :')

But yeah, this should definitely be in the off topic. Do you know where to find that forum?

of course he does, he "asked the admins to ban him"

I think the gears shear the long chain molecules in the multi-viscosity additive packages. This basically breaks a multi-viscosity oil down to its base viscosity (i.e., 15W-40 approaches straight 15W). If they sufficiently separate out the actual oil and combine new additives packages, shear in the tranny is probably not much more of a concern than with "new" oils. But that's my totally uneducated opinion and I don't know if that's how it's done anyway.

Sigh! OK tear me down I likely deserve it. Charlie Sheen and I are unrepentant however.

I figured they just filtered it and added more food coloring, maybe there's more to it than that. Still I wouldn't run it in a bike I cared about.

Well if you give up the bananas and get higher heels to avoid dragging your knuckles maybe you can pass for having evolved.

Give it a try my pithy ( for some reason ) nemesis.:twistedevil:
