Well I ended up buying the '82 GS750E, and I am planning on doing a full tune up including valve adjustment. I want to order a Real Gasket Silicone reusable valve cover gasket but on their site there is conflictiing information. It lists a part# of RG-11173-49224 for the bike but in bold letters at the top of the Suzuki section it says the following below. My confusion is that don't all GS bikes have the tach drive in the valve cover? 😳😳. If so, then does this mean this gasket will not work? I'm just wondering why they would list a valve cover gasket for a bike when it won't work...

" SUZUKI MOTORCYCLES - IF THE SUZUKI HAS A TACH DRIVE IN THE VALVE COVER, DO NOT USE A SILICONE VALVE COVER GASKET."

If you want to loose you mechanical tachometer; REALGASKET is a great way to do it.

Also adds nice selection of metal chips to the oil pan as well. Still need to know more?

If you don't maintain the proper clearance between the gear on the camshaft and the gear in the valve cover you will grind off the camshaft gear.

Well I guess I will be using the OEM valve cover gasket then. 👍😎 Thanks!

Nope. In fact, most of them DON'T.

Even if one did fit your bike, using it is so finicky, it might not be worth all the trouble. A new gasket at Z1 is only $15, and when installed with a bit of care, can be used several times, which really offsets the theoretical savings of re-using the Real Gasket.

I have used the real REALGASKET. I did not have the tac issue, but on 2 different bikes I did have leaks. It's a little tricky getting the proper torque when using the REALGASKET. Torque is less than factory which isn't much to begin with. On a ride far from home my right leg below the knee was getting soaked with oil. I didn't notice it right away because I was wearing motorcycle pants and boots. Turns out the gasket actually popped out of place leaving about a 1 inch opening with oil spitting out. It was fixed roadside. I still haven't replaced it yet, but it's on the list.
