    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

These are off the 2,298 Cooley rear. Wanted to get some opinions on whether or not they are serviceable?

These depict all the concerns:





 
Some of those spots look a little deep on the pitting especially on the first pic with the one on the left. I think these pistons are interchangeable with a lot of other models and I think you can still get new ones or new old stock. I can look at my used stuff if you want to go that route.
 
Low mileage bike, but also low maintenance.

Don't feel too bad Rich, on my KZ750 project I'm 0/5 for undamaged pistons & master cylinders.:(

They're done, have a look at the groove in the caliper body where the seal sits and make sure they don't have pits in them too.
Just to say that you can get pattern seal kits though I have no experience of them for the cost of them I only go OEM for that kind of stuff.
 
replace the seals too. Clean the groove they go into as clean as you can get them. Scrape all the white oxidation scale out.
 
The caliper looks good. However, I will certainly take a closer look.

I have all new seals ready to go, and I thought these were junk, I just wanted to be sure.

Boulevard has a pad/piston set listed for under 60 bucks. Looks like a good deal, I just seem to remember people waiting weeks for their boulevard orders.

Certainly no real rush, but I like to finish a task, before moving on.

The Suzuki fishe leads you to believe there are pads with the kit, but there aren't. Reasonable deal regardless for new pistons and seals.

I see...........you haven't been running into any positive surprises with that Kawi.

I don't mind replacing the needed parts on this one, just hoping to keep it as original as possible. I suspect the front pistons will also need replacing.

I believe all the brake fluid in this bike was original and not as bad as you would think.

Apex brake lines arrived quickly and look like good quality. Company was very helpful and responds quickly.

I always get a laugh out of the "Rear Cariper" listing in the parts fiche, that is funny.

Not so funny when you post something and you've done a typo in the heading and it doesn't let you edit it.:o Done that myself a few times.

Certain parts can take a while from Boulevard, but for the most part, best Suzuki dealer I've dealt with for price and service.
 
Rich..heres a little tip on cleaning the seal grooves. Put bolts in the banjo bolt holes and tighten the bleeders down. Fill the pots with carb dip and let set overnight to loosen the crud up. The dremels have a small round nylon bristled wheel that will polish the stuff off without damaging the base metal. Once the dip has done its job, the stuff comes off in seconds.

If you plan on repainting the calipers then just dip the entire thing.
