    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OK you bad ass GS'ers drag racers. Do you think a 14 t front and a 41 t rear is better than the stock 15 t and a 42 t sprockets. Cause that's what I've done. Hey SCOTTY did you have and problems with the 16 inch wheel you installed on your bike; like any high speed wobbles. I just installed a 16 inch front wheel 100/90x16 too on my 82 1100E. I think it drop the trail to around 3.5 inches from the stock 4.5. Currently I'am running 7.48ET with a 1.81 60 FT time. So I think I'll take it easy on the first few run just to make sure I don't eat a lot of VHT. I did installed 10 inch eye to eye struts on the rear along with a lowering strap on the front. that puts the lower slider about 1.5 from the bottom of the lower triple tree. I'am hoping to brake into 1.70 ft range on those 60 footers.
So what do you think??.

I HAD TO DO SOME MACHINE WORK ON THE CALIPERS TO GET THEM TO CENTER . I took the front wheel off a 750 suzuki I believe--it could have cme from something smaller but it is definitely off a suzuki. I machine ballanced it with a new tire and i have had her up to 120 or 130 a few times and no shimmy at all. i have also had progressive springs and no air in the tubes from the time i did the wheel mod. when the parachute opens i get quite a jolt though :lol: :lol: :lol:
i was just thinking --why didnt you go to the 530 chain mod as long as you were messing with the gears. On the ratios, I use a one tooth over stock on the countershaft. i am a street racer only and like the easy launches with the higher gearing. My bike is tuned to come on strong a 6000 rpm and it gives this old man time to get his butt set in the seat. It will be on the jack for a few weeks now as i am messing with the shift minder nad i have to get another outer baskes. I will make the 530 conversion one of these years. :lol: :lol:
sometimes i run one tooth under when i think im going to meet some hot hog or something like that. :? :?
 
Thanks Scotty for the input on the front wheel, I'll feel alittle safer when I making my first run. I had the same problem with the front brakes, I just removed alittle material front the mounting lug on the slider to make it work. I would like to go with a 530 chain but I already have a few 630 sprockets of different sizes for testing. When the chain wears out I'll change it to a 530.

I realize that you are talking about drag racing your bike, but I have a question about your gearing. On my 79 gs1000, I hit 60MPH in 5th, at 4500 RPM. It's not a very comfortable cruising RPM. I really wish I could get a 6 speed. I was debating gearing up, but I don't want to lose the snap. If you gear down, what kind of a trap speed do you get. I don't know for sure but I think my bike would hit redline in 5th at about 100MPH or so. So I would think gearing down would give you a pretty low trap. Although I don't know how your bike compares to mine in these instances.
 
With a 15T front and a 42T rear sprockets MPH was 93.24 with a ET of 7.48. Changing only the front to a 14T MPH was 92.44 with a ET of 7.62. I do know that with the 14T the front end of the bike was coming up real easy, but also the RPM was so much faster that I was most likely over reving the engine by the time I started to shift. (no tack at this time) All I can say is give it a try and see what happens and let us know. PS. You can buy front sprockets around $20.

Yeap, 1/8 mile times. But who knows when I remove my 275 HP nitrous kit from my Falcon and install it on my Suzuki those times might just become 1/4 times. :lol:

I have the whole 83 750 ESD on mine. Fender, fork tubes, brakes, everthing except the tree. Nothing really to change on it. Brake lines are the same. I just had to raise the handle bars about an inch to allow for the 750's forks.
