    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Doug,

Currently I have two engineers working out the specs for suzuki. It will not be a long process as we have alot of data to work with from the honda experience.To be totally frank the are only a few specs to transfer over. To answer your question the specs should be done within 2 weeks. Prepaid orders will not be necessary.

Once ready all you need is to send me your full name and address so I can quote your shipping and we can utilize either paypal or a money order or check......any of the above is fine. The website is not quite ready for e commerce and the use of plastic....that will be soon.

I have Progressive shocks with the "extra heavy duty" springs. After about nine years of unnatural acts on a shaftie and back road abuse, their damping ability is starting to fade a bit.

Joe and Ryan have been telling me about the IKON shocks ($400+), but if there were a rebuildable alternative in the $200 range, I'd be extremely interested.

The shafties normally use a shock length of 330mm eye-to-eye. And there are some of us who ride them HARD. I'd also be interested in trying them 20mm - 25mm longer. (We'll have no more of this filthy talk in outdated fractional systems of measurement...)

What have the Honda roadracing guys learned regarding forks? There seem to be several brands of reasonably priced fork springs out there. A few GS riders people have installed RaceTech cartridge emulators with good results, but they are quite expensive and installation can be difficult.

First off since you from the land of the 'colts' I have to say congrats. My son is a Peyton Manning fanatic. I will PM the details.

Anyway the issue of fork springs is of course an important concern. I have always replaced my seals everytime fork springs are swapped out.I know you all would, but i had to mention it . I am very fortunate to know an ex factory honda race team suspension technician and he has been part of our R&D process and recomends a non progressive set of fork springs as part of the front rear package. We are not in that part of the business as of yet. We cannot recomend a rate for the suzuki applications currently.....but we will.
 
All this sounds VERY interesting. Am enthusiastic to say the least, Sir!!

I have an 82 1100EZ...was going for the IKONs as a replacement for Progressives, as they include damping adjustment as well, and are much less than peices from Works, even when you include shipping costs all the way from Australia. Would be nice to see a well made, less expensive alternative. Good luck and PLEASE keep us all informed! \\:D/

Same here I have the same bike, welp one of my bikes is one of those :-D

Count me in for at least 1 pair of the high end ones.
Something to keep in mind is to allow for chain clearance at the spring if the GS/Kat has been upgraded with 17 x 5.5" rear wheel. So postiion the spring the way Ohlin does (NOT Fox).

No Boos, either. I have had a number of Hondas, starting in '68, and enjoy all bikes!

I am glad I saw your post. I was thinking of buying new shocks, but now I will wait to hear more.

just an interesting side note.....i was trying to provide the same info over at www.kzrider.com and my thread was locked and I can no longer log in.....oh well more time to focus on the GS pieces......very strange.....I do appreciate the encouraging words here and several other forum sites.
 
There an old used set of Italian piggybacks on ebay right now I cant wait to see how much somebody pays for them. Ive been following this post with interest. I wont need new rears soon. The only decent parts on the bike when I bought it were the Ohlins rear shocks.
After reading this post Im interested in wether or not they need a rebuild or what. The adjustability of them seems to work and is pretty cool. At WOT I can make the bike stand up at every gear change or stiffen them and grind rubber off at every change.

If those piggy backs will work the same and are rebuildable I may be tempted since they look sweet.

The set i'm running came off a low mileage wreck ;-) they were, and are absolutely clean on the shock shafts and provide very nice damping. I got lucky, my set was $131 shipped.

I'm very willing to spend more on a good set of shocks, that just happened to be what I got them for.

Good luck on your work. LIke everyone else here, we're waiting with baited breath.

That was a great score and tough to beat.....gotta love ebay........:)

My only point was the scarcity of them and there high cost if buying from a Kawi dealer.....I am sure they will work well for you.

Just a question for you. I notice you own a couple of vintage Kawis. What forum do you use to gather info about your bikes?
