    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rear sprocket material/530 versus 630

Aluminum or steel rear sproket ??? Simple as that! What do you prefer? I`m about to put on new chain and sprockets. From being a old drag racer I always liked 630 better but have run some of the newer drag racing 530 chain. I am concerned about running such a small front sprocket with the 530. I never have been fond of o-ring chain. I prefer good maintenance to o-rings. Like to hear comments on this please! Thanks!
 
I switched to 530 for several reasons. First, they have stopped development on the 630 series of chains and it does not look like they are going to do any more. Second, 630 is normally much more expensive as 530. Third, 630 is getting harder to find...you can find it but there are not as many choices as the 530. Fourth, 530 has been developed to the point that it is stronger than the 630 that were on the bikes when they were built. Fifth, all the new hyperbikes such as the GSXR1000 and the Hayabusa use 530 showing that 530 can perform well in the real world. And sixth, the rotating mass of the 530 is much less than the 630, thus saving horsepower.

I am going with steel sprockets because they last longer than the aluminum sprockets (and cost less). Aluminum is all the rage in the sport bike world but I live in the real world.

What is the tensile strength of the 530 you are using? I found a 520 kit on Kimpex.com (I think it matches our bikes) and the best 520 chain is about 8800. 530 goes up to around 10,000 max while the good stuff is around 9200.

Tsubaki 530 Sigma chain goes to 10600. That is very close to DID's best 630 chain (11000) and RK's 630SO (11100).
