A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Not sure if this is the right place for this ...

Had one day off this week ... and nothing on the to-do list.

Made some peg mounts a few weeks back for giggles, and today decided to finish it all up and get them on.

Pegs are up and back .. in line with the swingarm bolt. Factory foot forward and low position is uncomfy for me .. I like my feet up and a touch back.

Anyhoo, I also made new brake/gear arms, and added length to the gear arm where it attaches to the pushrod ... in essence a short shift setup. My factory arm has about 1 1/2" from center hole of gear shift arm mount to center hole of the pushrod mount. I went to 2" .. which is alot, but it shifts nice and smooth, short throw and all. And it makes me feel faster

I havent zipped off the end of the factory brake lever yet in pics .. going to ride it a few days before I cut it off ... make sure I like it.

Now it runs so well .. I want to do more. Front springs are SHOT .. so springs, shock oil, valve adjust are all on order.

And if anyone can tell me what I used for pegs, I will put a dollar in your paypal ... Ha!

I dont want to hear about the ugliness either ... these parts are not cleaned, smoothed or painted. And when they are, they wont look much better! :D

Function is the name of this game .. :)

Nice turnbuckles, get those at Lowes???

Very nice setup, I have been thinkiing about doing something about my foot pegs, just not sure where I want them.

Worse ... ACE hardware! They have a "motorcycle bolt" section, which is all chrome nuts/bolts, or stainless. And in there, is clevis parts, heim joints, etc.

Sunday ... no bike shops open :(

For mine I was thinking just a set of clamp on pegs from Bent Bike. and find a place to clamp them that makes my ride more comfy. Had not thought about relocating controls, but now I am.

. Had not thought about relocating controls, but now I am.

I rode to work with just the pegs .. controls were still stock location. Didnt like it one bit. I bet if you mounted just pegs, you would feel the same way. It sucks having to reach for the brake or gear selector, especially when you really need it.

This project wasnt hard at all ... go for it. I am happy with it, and I saved a few hundred bucks over custom pieces.

I'd love to see some more detailed pics of both sides, especially the right side.

I had been thinking about doing a "stomp rocker" for my shift.

Stomp rocker = old skool fabricated rocker style shifter where instead of using your toe to up shift, you use your heel and press down to up shift, while leaving the toe control in place to down shift. Still have not worked out details for building it on a GS, or if it would even work on a GS... Working on it...

I tend not to "Buy" custom pieces... something about them being made for sale, takes the "custom" out of it for me. I'd much rather make my custom pieces. (I do however know a good Idea when I see it and am not afraid to make parts based on another's idea with credit to the creator of the idea... )

Keman ... my 550 came with a stomp rocker style lever. I cut off the back, or heel piece, the day I bought it ... :( Not sure if it was factory or not, but the forward toe side shifter lever is stock .. maybe someone added the heel part.

If I can find the rear part I cut off, I could weld it up and send it to you ... I dont need it.

I do have to take the rear sets off to paint up .. will get a few pics for ya and put them up. Sometime this week ..

Jason

No worries on sending them to me. I have everything I need her to build one. Still not sure if that's how I want to go yet.
